There are people reading this thread who will have their kindergarten children in line on day one.
Yep. It’s terrifying.

Absolutely insane. Show me how many kids have been hospitalized or died from Covid and then show me same numbers for the flu. This will be the hill I finally die on.
2019 flu deaths 5-17 - 107
COVID deaths 5-18 - 338

Flu deaths in children have been nationally reportable since 2004. Since that time, flu-related deaths in children reported to CDC during regular flu seasons have ranged from 37 to 188 deaths. For comparison, during the 2009 H1N1 pandemic, from April 2009 to September 2010, 358 flu deaths in children were reported to CDC.
Flu deaths in children are wildly over stated

I wish I could, but unfortunately, they always lump school aged children in the same grouping
I doubt the numbers would be significantly different though

This isn't an apples-to-apples comparison, since flu figures are seasonal (reset annually), and COVID-19 numbers continue to be presented cumulatively.

pneumonia for those age groups is even a higher count no?

Man if people in NYC are chanting that, damn.
81,000,000 votes though right?

I'm aware, which I why I included the averages quote to add more context
even if you split COVID in half, it would be about the same

I'm pro-vaccine on myself and most other adults. I've kind of drawn a hazy line at kids. I don't know. I'm okay with trying a new technology on myself. If it fricks me up, so be it, though I don't think it will. I'm not quite willing to put my kids on line. Mine are younger than five, so it's a non-issue for this approval, but still.

Speaking of over inflated, you're comparing deaths in a 7 month window (flu) to deaths in an 18 month window (covid.)

I'm in no way going to rush my kids to get that vaccine, but just about all the parents here have had their kid vaccinated for shite that has nearly a 0% chance of killing the kids. My kids are vaccinated for chicken pox. It never occurred to me to skip that vaccine b/c chicken pox wouldn't kill them.
My kids aren't vaccinated for anything. In fact, they've never taken any medicine in their lifetime. Super anecdotal but they're the healthiest kids I know. And no, I'm not anti-vax I'm just extremely selective about when and what we put in our bodies. I very much take a, if it ain't broke don't fix it, approach to everything. Most people don't take the longview in life whether its finances, career planning, preventive maintenance on their homes, cars, medical interventions, Etc. Unknown, long-term consequences are the ones that usually get us in the end.
