R&Os has great seafood gumbo and their pizza is also solid. I like the shrimp poyboy and roast beef poyboy from magazine street poyboys

Although I like R&O's, I've always thought it was overrated. People rave about it like nothing else. If you want the city's best roast beef poorboy, give Hobnobbers a try.

i like the duck and the rabbit from crabby jacks. Of course, i would be happier with a plate of the rabbit or duck meat with a side or two...rather than a po-boy.

You claim Baton Rouge. I would rather disagree with you on matters of food.

Roast Beef at Chubbie's in Algiers or at DiMartinos on a muff bun.

Shrimp at Danny and Clydes(How could this have been left off?)

Ham and Debris at Mother's(Not mentioned either).

&Os shrimp poboy is the greatest thing on the planet

Fail.
I had the best shrimp po-boy in the world at Krabby Jacks today. It ain't even close.

For roast beef I am in agreement with Parkway being #1. I like Rodastas and Red Wagon also. Red Wagon is a steal at the price.

Mark Twain's Pizza landing has a andoullie and peppers sandwhich that is pretty damn good for a little something different.

I was specifically referring to their pizza.

It's pretty average, at best, for poboys/fried seafood.

I don't know if its still open but we used to go to Check in Check out in Kenner for shrimp poboys before random games in the Dome and they were always real good...could have been because I was young and didn't know what good food tasted like yet though ;)

Also, I have fallen in love over the past couple of years with Johnny's Po-Boys in the Quarter...I realize its in the touristy area but their soft shell crab poboy and the calamari poboys are absolutely amazing and I've gotten everyone I know hooked on it.

And as an Italian...you gotta love Central Grocery's muffaletta. That olive salad and the oil that drips down your arm when you eat it is simply amazing.

No apologies needed for Johnny's...its a great place. Their batter is very light and good on oysters and shrimp.

I agree.

Too many folks get hung up on what is, or isn't a "tourist trap," when a lot of these places still put out quality food.

For instance, although it's pricy, a tad bit chintzy lately, and rather inconvenient due to the lines, I still say Mother's is probably tops in the city, as far as actual ingredients used on their sandwiches. I mean, what other place would even think of baking their own hams?
