Good to hear. Luckily the storm didn’t even hit Baton Rouge - so don’t get over confident when a storm is headed that way.
Great post here. Keep this in mind when another one comes. If you are within 40-60 miles on the East side prepare accordingly.

What we got in BR was more or less a tropical storm.. maybe a strong TS in southern BR. If you're ever in the path of anything stronger than that, you either better be very well prepared, or just leave to avoid all of the suck after the storm.

Most folks outside of hurricane areas fail to understand the totality of being hit by a hurricane. It’s not just the hours long actual storm that takes its’ toll, it’s the 1-3 weeks of crap afterwards that can break you down.

FWIW, whenever a tropical storm gets in the Gulf & the cone is projected anywhere near La. gas up your car & cans if you have a generator. As you saw, people go nuts at the grocery store, shelves look like locusts hit them, so stock up accordingly.

Wait until you realize our slimy politicians are fricking you and your girlfriend raw!!!!! Not to mention a growing number of Democrats, horrible school systems and the countries worst roads. But the hunting, fishing and food is great!!!

But yeah I can believe he paid $25+ each for just the cans.
It's not price gouging....thats the market rate

Yep, gas cans are stupid. Cheapest I could find for a 1 gallon can for 2 cycle gas mixture was 14.99 the other day. Spend 26 bucks on 5 gallon cans in Houston in case family in LA needed them. That's not price gouging.

Glad you are safe.
Yes, hurricane itself is obviously risky but, in my experience, the worst part is the short-term life aftermath.
God forbid, you have a medical emergency and cannot get out to a hospital (trees down, etc.). Or that AND home damage.
But, just the non-emergency stuff, like no power, water (boil advisories), sewage, etc. can make life a bit tough.
Plan for 7-10 days and don't look back.
I never saw any price gouging around me this go round.
Welcome! The state has many warts, but those are like filters for people like yourself (and myself)...
