I hate to crap on a player or talk bad about one, but John Emery has to be the most disappointing 5 Star player to every sign with LSU.
I keep waiting for him to have this a breakout game and it just haven't happen. I'm not blaming this loss or any other loss on him, but man he sure as hell is not helping.
I'm still holding out hope, but the clocking is ticking.

If you're willing to start a thread to do it, you don't hate it.

If he isn’t going to make grades I got a feeling he won’t ever play here.

I mean, he didn't play, how would this loss be on him?

This. I'm sure his professors/instructors aren't asking him to split an atom.

Make some sort of minimal effort in GEOL 1001 and get on the field.

My thread is not crapping on him, i'm simply stating my opinion of Emery. I was really excited when he signed and thought by now he would have made a differents, after all he was consider the number 1 back in his class with a 5 star rating.
I realize he didn't play Saturday night and that is one of the problems, he can't stay on the field and when he gets on the field he is not producing.

We've had some awful 5 stars. Some have never seen the field and left a couple years after and didn't do anything anywhere else. Emery was behind Helaire as a freshman, and the OL was crap last year (well it's crap this year too. He's had a couple of nice moments, but he doesn't carry the ball enough to see what he can do. Behind Helaire he only had two games with more than 6 carries (those were 8 and 9 carries against Vandy and Utah St), last year he had only 4 games with more than 7 carries, where he went 18 for 88 vs South Carolina 12 for 103 vs Vandy, 9 for 21 vs Auburn, and 12 vs 33 vs Arky.

If we were running I formation with a fullback, him and Price would eat in that system, but we haven't had good enough blocking for any decent rush attack since 2019.

Some of you guys act like Emery is a 4th or 5th year player.

2019 He sat behind RB that went in the 1st Round and showed flashes in mop up duty.

2020 was a complete disaster at every position on the team and we all can agree that the RB rotation was awful. When Faulk decided to give him the bulk of the carries (Vandy), we saw what he was capable of doing.

actually he was #2 in the 2019 class
recruiting is so unpredictable, ponder these numbers

# ......player ............2019 yds .... 2020 yds ... avg YPC career
1. Trey Sanders...........0.............134..............4.9 ......(missed 2019 & 2020 due to injuries, jury still out)
2. John Emery...........182...........378...............5.1 ......(inconsistent when his number was called)
3. Jerrion Ealy .......... 722...........745.............5.7.......(2-sport ATH who may end up bing the best RB in this class)
4. Zach Charbonnet....642..........124.............4.9 .......(transferred from MICH and gashed LSU, great VISION & NFL size)
8. Ty Davis-Price........270...........446 ............4.4.......(YPC very disappointing based on his "Jeremy Hill" size)

edit: added TDP's numbers

How about not doing the BARE MINIMUM to remain eligible to play?

By not doing what he needed to do, he made himself ineligible thereby letting his team down.

Would he have made a difference?

We'll never know.
