Hotel cancelation for Central Michigan...

Just got a call saying the Governor is making all hotels cancel reservations and give those rooms to misplaced families from hurricane Ida.
I'm not trying to be heartless but I have 4 flights and tickets already paid for.
Is this a confirmed thing?

What did your hotel say when you called to ask them?

They said it was a Governor's order. Haven't found anything on it. This place is where I thought I could get info.

Call the hotel. And then mabye grab an AirBNB ASAP as a backup.

I haven’t heard anything like that but I haven’t been looking for a hotel either.

So are you asking if the game is cancelled or if your hotel rooms are cancelled?

Here is the order.
quote:
Today, Gov. John Bel Edwards signed a proclamation in an effort to assist hotels in Louisiana in housing first responders, essential health care employees, and utility workers restoring critical infrastructure in the state following Hurricane Ida.
“Right now, the priority for the entire state of Louisiana is Hurricane Ida recovery, and we simply cannot afford to have any of our first responders, health care employees, or utility workers pushed out of their hotel rooms for any reason. It’s unacceptable that those working around the clock to support our state would be kicked out on the streets,” Gov. Edwards said. “Southeast Louisiana still has more than half a million power outages caused by Hurricane Ida, and power restoration is a major hurdle for communities still struggling after the storm. We will do whatever it takes to keep our people safe and to get services restored as quickly as we can.”
Visitors planning to travel to Louisiana for reasons unrelated to hurricane response should check with their hotels before traveling to make sure their rooms are not being used to house this critical emergency workforce.

Yes, my wife (no pics) called me and said that the hotel called her and said it was governors order.
They had to use rooms for Ida victims. Its the hotel right on LSU campus behind Walk Ons.
I'm at work and live in NJ...just trying to see if this is actually happening in BR.

I got pretty pissed that my flights for my honeymoon were affected because of Ida, but I understood why, even after my wedding was originally fricked by COVID almost twice.
If you can't figure out hotel plans, you may have to contact your airline and see what's up. It's a shitty situation for everyone.
Regardless, getting the state back to semi-normalcy is more important than attending a football game, as much as many Tiger fans would like to think otherwise.

I had a hotel reservation in Denham Springs for this weekend. I received an email a few days after Ida saying they couldn’t honor my reservation. I checked several hotels in the BR area and nothing was available. So I made a reservation in Lafayette and will drive over.

quote:dunno, however, a couple of days ago there was talk of the first responders and power crews was first priority for most hotels in BR and surrounding areas.
Is this a confirmed thing?

Call your hotel and inform them you are with Jersey Central Power and Light coming to help, instead of going to the game, you'll be working on powerlines. Therefore, you'll obviously need to keep the room reserved for you, and you might actually need to get upgraded to a living room suite, due to the fact you'll have more workers with you.

Auburn, Florida, Arkansas, and TAMu play this year at Tiger Stadium, and this is the game you are flying in for?

Probably a more competitive game than any of those.
