Damn, it like none of y'all have traveled lately. Most hotels do not want you at their front desk.

Digital check-in is awesome. I don't think I can ever go back to checking in at the front desk.

I think you’re vastly overestimating the number of hotels that have this technology.

are flying out tomorrow to hit their firt ever Tiger game as students. One of the guys dads held the hotel room on his credit card. Will they have a problem checking in not being 21 years old?

Don’t mind all of these pr*cks …. Just send me the credit card number and I’ll call the hotel to check for you.

Check in through the app. You will never have to see the desk clerk.

Make sure your credit cards are up to date within the app. Most hotels will allow you check in 24 hours before your scheduled arrival and issue you a room key that is accessible on your phone. The only time I go to the front desk is to get my free bottled water.

I was looking for a room for someone yesterday who was evacuating. They were having no luck online. I went to the hotel in person and five minutes later was walking out with a reservation. The same hotel that showed no vacancies on any of the online sites. Online is great and convenient but it's not infallible and it's not the last word.

It is on your phone.

When you are near your room lock, you can hit "unlock" on your digital key in the hotel app and the door unlocks.

That's great and all but it's awfully dependent on technology. After this week, depending on technology ought to give everyone pause.

If it doesn't work (it has always worked for me), you go down to the front desk and get a physical key...

Interesting. The shoddy motel I stayed at didn't have that. I was in the middle of bumfack Tennessee and the motel burned down couple of weeks later. I've only been staying in VRBOs since this crap other than that one time.

This is the way to do it. Probably the only way. They more than likely are not renting a car since you have to be 25

This used to be an issue in florida for spring break.

But that seems like a reasonable concern for properties over drunk and drugged out teenagers.

Theylll need an ID and credit card to check in. You’ll need to call the hotel and verify they can check in without you present. You may have to fib and say you’ll be along later.

Someone tell them the mini bar contents are complimentary.

Years ago I heard the Kimmer on Atlanta radio tell how he put his mother in law up in a hotel while they moved to a new place. Next day she came and helped and provided snacks and drinks she had brought from her room.

Kimmer asked if any of his listeners realized how much a bag of peanuts cost after he received his credit card bill.

I have done this before with 20 somethings with a major brand. I will say that I was a very loyal member at the time and I always called the hotel. He used his own CC to check in for incidentals but my card was on the room. No problem but my son didn't raise hell or tear the place up either. It was a non-event.

Now rental cars are a whole different story. Not much wiggle room on those if the renter is under 25.

He already has the room reserved. Didn't ever say it wasn't infallible btw.
