How has electricity service barely evolved from when I was a kid to today?

Unlike every other industry, with the advancement of fiber optics and batteries, etc has managed to evolve. From telecommunications (not you, AT&T) to drones, self-driving cars, video games, .. It's all taken leaps and bounds forward. But today I look up and see damn near the same transformers on the same shitty poles.
How have we not fixed this yet? How has it not grown as an industry? How has nobody held people like Entergy or Demco accountable and demanded something better?

On that note, why do we still drive on roads and not have flying cars?

It’s really quite simple and there isn’t much more advancement unless we figure out how Tesla came up with wireless transmission. Now LED lighting is a completely different story. That shite is changing almost daily.

I mean what do you want me to do? Go without power in protest. Well frick it, I've protested for 72 hours. I'd like my power back.

A lot of the electric grid is still comprised of poles and hardware installed in the 1930s, the utility companies philosophies have always been if it works why replace it.

I just think South Louisiana need underground power lines. We obviously can not deal with above ground lines serving each house in the neighborhoods.

You will still have problems with underground lines. It won’t be as widespread, but those out will take 4x as long to fix. Fact is that overhead is cheaper and quicker to maintain and fix.

I lived in Okinawa for three years and experienced 4 super typhoons. Never lost power and minimal damage to property. All utility poles are concrete or steel. Most structures are concrete. We destroyed that island and built it back better than anything here.

A complete overhaul of the electrical system will require investment from everyone, rich and poor.

They company or the guy? I didn’t think wireless transmission was possible.

Maybe. But wind events happen occasionally. In the earth, rust and rot are constant and pervasive. On the other hand it works for fiber and cable. So maybe you are on to something.

Why do we still use PVC or copper to move water around?
Cuz a wire is a whole lot like a pipe for moving electrons, but it is a gigantic pain in the arse (and expensive) to bury it in the very conductive ground.

Why do we park on driveways and drive on parkways?

Your opinion is marked as noted.

How much are you willing to pay for an upgraded grid? 2X,5X....more per month?

Nikola Tesla. Go down that rabbit hole and let me know what you think.
