The oval shape holds more food than a BGE with the same surface area

My biggest complaint about my Large Egg is that I wish it could hold more food. I can get about 5 lbs of wings on there max. And because it has hotter spots on it, I have to move them around when I flip them, which is kind of a pain, especially when you have the grill packed to the edges.

As others have said, it is more a Chevy or Ford debate based on what people bought originally but I posted a similar thread a few years ago and did have a couple people say even though they had BGE they would go with KJ now because of the accessories/hinge system. That is what sold me on KJ.

I would suggest that if you have the room I would go with the Big Joe over the standard KJ, I think you can save some $$ going with the BJII over the BJIII because I am not convinced the SLORoller warrants the extra money but having the extra space is clutch.

Neither. Get the Weber Summit Kamado. Light weight. Use lump or briquettes. Efficient with charcoal.

Yep the circle design has hotter spots than others and I can only cook 2 racks of ribs flat which feeds very few people. I have a vertical holder which can fit 4 racks but they cook inconsistent.

Kamado joe II is listed at $1299. How is the Weber a rip off compared to that? The steel is an advantage in my opinion. Light, more portable, cooks great, can use briquettes or lump. What is not to like?

You can get plenty of steel walled Kamados for under $500.

Hell, I paid $350 for mine

The Weber is miles ahead of the Akorn, Bubba Keg, and the like.

If what you say is true, then why would anyone want a Green Egg, Kamado Joe, or Primo?

My neighbor is relocating to NY and selling a Large BGE with a custom table for $500. He has a few accessories too. Egg is about three years old and used frequently. Good deal, or no?

Kj>bge. But if you have the room get a pk grill or weber and an offset smoker.

The ceramics are halfway decent at a lot of stuff but not great at all stuff. The other two mentioned will get you better results. Again if you have the room.
