No, because you’ve made sacrifices your entire life for kids, jobs, living in undesirable areas because of kids/jobs, etc and you have only one life to finally live wherever you want and that’s the beauty of retirement.
All that money you saved and all those places you wish you could live one day finally happens later in life. If life is too short, retired life is even shorter. Live somewhere you really want to be every day.

I grew up in Huntsville, AL. Great city then, even better city now. I'd move back in a heartbeat if the right opportunity came along for my wife and I.
i grew up in San Angelo, Texas.
Decent mid sized city that was around 85k and a nice place to live when i was there, but pretty boring. After we left about 15 years ago it had a great revitalization project that actually made it a really cool place to go back and visit now.
now it's over 100k people with dozens of restaurants downtown and a built out riverwalk.

Grew up in the foothills of San Diego. Joined the service at eighteen and never went back. Lived in a few different places. I moved to wherever the best opportunity was.

You better make your grades and get a job if you're from a small town. No going back.

I grew up in the middle of nowhere, very rural LA.
As a kid, I desperately wanted to get out (and I did), but the older I get, the more I desire the peacefulness of rural life.

I’ve lived in 6 states now. Learning how to adapt to different people and cultures has been invaluable to me. I’ll always love Baton Rouge, but I’m so glad I’ve left.

I miss my friends that have left BR but it was a smart decision by them

Wanted to leave - left.
Wanted to come back- came back.
Now I think I def want to leave but I'm stuck for now due to young kids and old parents.

Left, as did most of my high school friends and siblings. Don’t miss it but don’t necessarily hate it.

No
Left for a better job market but also had a job in my pocket
I went from small town Louisiana to a company paying $3,500.00 to move me to DFW, I thought I was Tom Cruise in The Firm Then I found out they do that for everybody

If you are the former, did you end up sticking around or did you move?
Left it at 18, haven't going back since 2004, can't really see any reason I'd ever go back at this point.

Moving out of New Orleans after Katrina was the best decision I ever made, and I grew up in Lakeview.
What a shithole city.

Born and raised New Orleans and area.
Could not get away fast enough after college.
Houston, San Francisco, Chicago, Houston, London, Houston, New Orleans
About half way through the journey, realized how wrong the world approached what matters in life and could not get back fast enough
Won't make that mistake again, warts and all of LA/New Orleans. Best wishes to all who succumb to elsewhere!

Grew up in Opelousas and couldn’t wait to get out. I lived in a number of places and never thought about moving back.
