Looks like I'm playing this masterpiece for like a 20th time starting on November 11.

Upgrade is free for special edition owners.

Bethesda is definitely self aware of the joke at this point and I don't blame them. Todd Howard has said they'll stop making it when people stop paying for it.

Great. Another skyrim release. Meanwhile I'm waiting for a remaster of Oblivion.

Cant really blame them. With all the predatory monetization in games today selling remastered versions of a game that gives you as much as Skyrim does isn't that bad. I bought it for xbox and PC and don't feel ripped off at all. I actually feel like a got my moneys worth.

I thought there was an upgrade version that was free and a paid version with more content?

I played and beat the original skyrim on PC.. own special edition on pc but never started it. What makes the anniversary edition different? Will it be an entirely new steam game in my library? Can't click IGN links at work.

100% this, especially with New Vegas.

People keep buying it so you can't blame the company for making a quick and easy buck.

It's like Ultimate Team in Madden. I fricking hate it and the people that play it because it's what is making the series dog shite. But I can't hate EA for continuing to put money into it because they've had their biggest profits by far because of UT.

I'm 100% in favor of remasters, but only for truly great games that have either started to show their age terribly, or have become borderline/literally unplayable on modern hardware. Remastering Mass Effect was a great idea. Remastering KOTOR, New Vegas, Oblivion, etc, etc, would be great ideas.

Yet another Skyrim cash grab? Yeah, they can frick off.

If the previous versions didn't make me play more than 10 hours, I doubt this one will either.

Dunno why, but I really couldn't get into it like Fallout.

Probably just the genre difference from fantasy to post-apocalypse.

I'm more of a fallout guy too but Skyrim is one of the GOATS.

To each his own

Even stranger, I love RPGs set in a fantasy universe. Just something weird with Skyrim.

The guild quests and side quests in Skyrim just weren’t very interesting, which was tremendously disappointing as a follow up to Oblivion.

Skyrim is fine, but without the modding community to make the game vastly more interesting, I think it would have died a long time ago.

As much as I love Skyrim, you're right that it's not Oblivion.

Idk if I'm just remembering Oblivion differently since I was a kid and it was the most revolutionary game I had seen, but it just had a feeling that Skyrim doesn't quite have.

The land and cities might've been better than Skyrim

I replayed Oblivion… 3-4 years ago? Actually holds up pretty well. And if you mod some of the rougher edges (tweak the leveling system, get rid of the potato faces, tweak enemy level scaling, etc), it’s genuinely still a great gaming experience, even now.
