Louisiana COVID rules regarding athletics - Updated clown world stuff

I know; another COVID thread. I need to see if I’m taking crazy pills or if this actually makes sense. I was notified Monday that my son was in close contact with another student who tested positive for COVID. He can return to class on the 24th. No big deal. However, he cannot return to football until the 30th. 10 day and 14 day quarantine, respectively.
I was told that because football is a close contact support, and mask wearing and distancing cannot be maintained, is the reason for the longer quarantine.
1. Why the longer quarantine if he is still has a possibility of contracting after 10 days? Why would going to class have less of a restriction (regardless of mask status)?
2. They go to recess with a bagillion other kids and never wear a mask. Isn’t this the same as a football game?
TLDR version: nobody knows what the frick they are doing and the rules are retarded and make zero sense.
Update: I called the school asking if they had documented proof of the student testing positive. I was told they cannot ask for proof, as the state says that is not allowed. They have to assume it’s legit. So they make everyone jump through hoops for shite when they don’t even know if it a valid positive. WTF!!

The key to all of this is for people to stop testing kids who have runny noses.

Exactly what’s taken place for over a year now

did your son test positive for COVID?
this “coming into close contact with someone who tested positive” is bullshite.

I believe that is the LHSAA protocol for someone who is not vaccinated.
For someone that is vaccinated, they do not have to quarantine unless they test positive themselves or become symptomatic.
Whether people like it or not, those are the rules.
Also, if a team can't play a game because they have too many players in quarantine, it doesn't get rescheduled. It is a forfeit.

I see better COVID rules on the LSU Quad.

It IS FULLY KNOWN THAT COVID IS NOT SPREAD OUTDOORS...
the people making decisions on sports are completely unable to use rational, science based thought and our kids are paying the price for their utter incompetence.

Went thru exact same thing with my son who was 8th grade basketball last year. I asked same question for differences (return to school / sport), and landed on similar reasons.
This year, 9th grade football, he contracted Delta July 24...has been back at school since Aug 5 but can return to practice Monday for acclimation week due to heart-related symptoms from Delta. The Delta wrecked his hard work all summer...and debating if we made right decision to not get him Vax'ed. At the time, believe we did. But there was chance for heart damage that has me 2nd guessing.
Pardon digression, but you are not crazy for asking...and landing on the reasons you did. Lived it myself.

It's all a fricking game, my suggestion to you is
Refuse to play it
Refuse to play it

Last year at this time my kids were flying/driving to Texas, Mississippi, Alabama, Florida, and Tennessee to play soccer because we weren’t allowed to play here. Nothing has ever made sense in Louisiana.

None of it makes it any sense, I got a call from the principal yesterday to come pick up my kid from school because a student in his class was possibly exposed, not even confirmed just possibly. He didn’t even make it two weeks into the school year and now it’s 10 days at home. I’d be willing to bet most of us have been exposed to Covid over the last 18 months.

The vaccines only work for 90 days.

LHSAA operates on a different set of rules than BESE. They are slow as molasses to change things, either.
