After one scrimmage, the d line is expected to be ahead of the oline especially the beast of a d line we have and a brand new o line coach. Give them time to gel and click together. LSU will be really good this year

It was a situational scrimmage of course on the 3rd down portion the defense is pinning its ears back and rushing knowing the offense is passing. The offense isn’t gunna run a draw or a screen to counter that. They want the QB’s to go through their progression with pressure in their face. Everyone relax it’s the first scrimmage

I think so. They have week 1 and 2 non-conference foes to fix things before the meat of the schedule starts too

Who started on the Oline during the scrimmage ? And are there any freshman or sophomores on the team that could leap ahead of these 5th and 6th yr guys who aren’t that good?

LT is going to be an issue all year. LSU doesn’t really have one. Scheme around it. Hope the other 4 raise their level.

Dellinger is the answer at LT. Dislocated shoulder, so he'll be out and the OL will not look as effective/unified until he is in there.....

Bradford cannot play lt at that size.

If he is backing it up that should tell you something.

Dumervil must be a rt all the way.

I never got why people shite on dare at lt. He will play in the league one day.

Something similar to this was posted about 50x last year as well.

You have no idea if the Oline will fine. The Oline could end up being the worst unit in the nation. They were close to that level last year. I'm not sure bringing back the worst unit is a good thing.

Y’all do realize Max is left handed right? It makes our weakness at LT not as large

Yep, not exactly scripted but situational conditions with no offensive adjustments play-to-play. Not a huge disadvantage for the offense but some. It's realistic because those are game situations- but the goal was to see how the skill positions were handling those very critical game situations (such as 3rd med-long).

The OL did not play well as a group. I'd say most of it was a scheme/assignment problem. OL were winning battles, and losing battles against a very tough DL. Individual play needs to get better. Squad play was bad.

It was worse than one might expect in a first scrimmage, but not overly so.

Because it was a scheme/assignment problem, mostly, me personally I think judgement should be witheld for the most part until next scrimmage. Now if overall play, especially assignments/gap control, isn't much better in the next scrimmage some alarm bells need to go off.

DL were eating lunches on 5-man slides going backside of the slide. 7-man slides same thing. QBs weren't managing pocket very well based on where protection was shading (e.g. don't bounce to the side where sliding from allowing those defeated backsides were pressure was most likely to come firstest/fastest). Some technique issues where OL are losing form/leverage when they are slow getting to a gap (i.e. not squaring up and getting flanked).

Yeah there's plenty of individual and sqad things to work on. But it looks like mostly those individual failures play to play were causing the scheme to be busted and DL wasn't having any of it. They attacked every failure with regularity.

It’s very unfortunate that Dillinger hurt his shoulder; however I’m confused why you would think he’s the fix to the Oline. We have plenty of young guys that are strong and want it. Let them have have the opportunity to do so. I’m also confused why everyone is freaking out over a scrimmage game.

I agree and people flip out here for anything that happens. The way I see it is the more they struggle in scrimmages, the more they will learn and it’s not like we know all the situations either. Coach Ed O specifically said that they worked a lot on 3rd down long yardage where the defense could just come at the QB at full speed.

He said they were put in lots of positions where they could just pin their ears back. That’s tough on an Oline for the first scrimmage, which is a good thing. People need to chill out but the more people get on this OL, the more they will want to prove them wrong so I’m good with it. Just wish our fans were slightly more forward thinking but they aren’t at all.
