Probably the two greatest soloist from the 70’s (after Yucko broke up the Beatles).
JT and Carol King Live from Troubador is on PBS right now. His music is simply amazing. I’ve seen him in concert. I thought it was great, many thought it was boring. He’s not a showman, he’s a musician.
Of course I’ve never seen JL in concert, but is his library of music as a solo artist greater than JT?
I’m just a bigger JT fan than JL.

I’d take David Bowie, Neil Young, Brian Eno and Nick Drake over either of them (counting John as soloist, not over his Beatles work). But I suppose that is just personal opinion.
Of these two, I’d take Lennon

I’d put Elton John over them. That was the greatest concert I’ve ever been to.

You maybe the only person in the world to ever speak these words. How can you not care for JT’s songs?

Love both. Lennon is a bit more creative lyrically and song structure building
James Taylor just makes great songs tho that are easy to listen to

Lennon solo sucks. Taylor writes nice song, but his voice is 2nd rate. I'm going with BB King.

Yeah, I'm surprised that the OP somehow overlooked Elton John. IMO, he has no peer during that time period.

This is a strange comparison. If only counting Lennon’s solo work you’re throwing out a decade of work he did with the Beatles. Almost every artist blows their creative load earlier in life.

Jackson Browne FTW...by a country mile.
