midfield depth and rotation, esp since Kante has alot of miles on that engine. got more bite than Kova and can actually hit a banger every now and then.

Still scratching my head as to why Blues were so ready to move Zouma. He wasn’t bad, added depth to the D, and was pretty good on set pieces in front of the opposing goals. He’s not a superstar but certainly useful.

They sold him to bring in kounde after agreeing to personal terms, but Sevilla pulled a bitch move and raised their price at the last minute closer to 90m than the 50m that was supposedly agreed upon.

They put us in a place thinking we’d have to just eat the loss and pony up. Thankfully we didn’t. Chalobah probably had a lot to do with that I believe.

Not to worry though. Kounde apparently wanted to be here so bad that he’s now reportedly not taking phone calls from his manager or owner. January is on the way.

all that plus you gotta imagine Zouma prob wasnt exactly thrilled with the idea of spending a season as Chelsea's 4th or (more likely) 5th CB option off the bench during a WC qualifying year.

I don’t know, I think he wanted to be here and compete no matter where he was in the pecking order. He was only surplus if we had kounde, now we are missing kounde and Zouma. I hope Jules goes on vacation until January. frick Sevilla. Greedy bastards.

Sure I still think we get Kounde in January but it would’ve been nice to have Zouma as a solid backup.

Need Kante to heal over the break and get ready for Villa on the 11th.

The book also serves as an homage to those players that didn’t make it to the Premier League with us, not only because it recalls the influence of players like Saiz and Roofe, but because it highlights the importance and misfortune of players who were less lauded or able to make their mark on the first team. Lamrani’s account identifies the popularity and skill of Lewis Baker and the misfortune of Jamal Blackman who, intended as our first-choice keeper, lost his chance after a season-ending injury. As an aside, he also notes that out of the entire squad, the unfortunately never-quite-fit Izzy Brown was the most efficient in front of goal, something that may well have tipped the balance in our favour in a season marked by a frustratingly low conversion rate.

So many services to thank

Isn’t Baker still at Chelsea?

He was just named to the CL squad set to face zenit.

Services thanked.

Romelu Lukaku could be an injury doubt for Chelsea's Premier League clash against Aston Villa on Saturday. Lukaku was set to make his Stamford Bridge homecoming this weekend, but he recently revealed he's struggling with a 'minor' injury.

Timo time again! Oh joy!

I fricking hate International breaks

Those who could be out tomorrow vs Villans: Lukaku, Pulisic and Kante. Definitely out: James (red card) and Silva. This team is deep and now’s the time to prove if that depth has quality. Timo for Lakaku is scary but he had a good international break so maybe that momentum can carry forward.

Blues are fortunate to be up. Villa is controlling possession and their high press gives Chelsea fits. I’m confident TT will adjust at half.

Big Rom has been as good or better than we could have hoped. Solid second half, controlled the match.

I don't think I've ever seen a professional as bad as Saul was in the 1st half today.

I didn’t see the first half but listened on radio…when radio announcers repeatedly callout a player for being horrid then it’s beyond obvious.

On the flip side, I was able to see the 1st half. I listened to the second half on the Chelsea’s app, while I cut the yard. But to your point, Ben Andrew’s had it out for Tyrone Mings and openly admitted it. He and Cundey both didn’t hold back on criticism, as well as praise, for Villa. I enjoyed their commentary; it was refreshing!
