We had Kounde locked up until Sevilla shithousery upped the asking price at the 11th hour. Maybe Ampadu is the answer to depth there. All said, there’s still time get get deals done today.

with Chalo staying we have 6 guys for 3 spots including dave and reece. thats plenty. kounde or another promising CB would be a luxury and insurance in case rudi runs his deal down, but the current dept is more than fine, for now.

There is something there at TT doesn’t like or he wouldn’t be pursuing Kounde so hard. Maybe it’s age, maybe uncertainty with Rudiger, I don’t know.

Kounde is a club target, reported that the club have been tracking him before tuchel arrived. similar to Kai, they didnt buy him for lampard, the club had been interested for a long time.
tuchel isnt mourinho. he hasnt been handed all the keys. and it doesnt seem like he wants them, which is refreshing. no doubt hes got some influence on targets, but some are gonna happen whether the manager wants them or not.
you could argue tuchel giving Trevoh an extended look in preseason was him sending signals the he trusts whats currently available.
