No doubt. Afghan’s military is full of clowns. We were assigned two of them helping “provide security” for us while we worked. Both wore fingernail polish and worn down high heels and drug around their mattresses with them.

You’re lucky they didn’t shoot you in the back, based on the PTSD claims I’ve fielded in the last 6 years.

We were forewarned. Someone always had eyes on them 24/7.

I know this is about Afghanistan and I in no way want to detract from the honor we should feel for the service you veterans did in that country, in and out of combat. Sadly, I see a hauntingly terrible and familiar story. I served in combat for one year in the infantry in Vietnam in 1969 and 1970. We began withdrawing combat units at that time and by 1972, there were no US Army or USMC maneuver battalions left in country. The NVA launched a major regular army offensive in 1972 and it was totally crushed by a combination of South Vietnamese Army fighting bravery and, most importantly, American air power devasting NVA armor and infantry units. It took North Vietnam two years to regroup and in 1975 they relaunched their regular army attacks on the South which folded like a house of cards because there was no American air support. I see now, 50 years later, the same thing in Afghanistan.

Welcome home brother
And I know I've teased people on here who I know are veterans but don't mistake my teasing for lack of respect
I spent a year as a civilian at the Pentagon (Senate Armed Services Committee) I can't say enough about those who served God bless you

I was on OEF orders while in Kosovo. That was the closest I got. I did send Deuce Midnight there one time (with the Chair Force, but still).
And, respectfully, sir, I still don't see how those folks on Madison Avenue didn't steal you from the Army to sell underwear and all sorts of other shite, you heartbreaker you.

Wow. I bet you hear some horrific stories. Things I can't even probably imagine. Thanks for your service to those that served.
