As someone who got into the market last summer/fall that basically seems free to me

I'll keep that in mind in case I have that problem, as well. Glad to know there are easy fixes for this.

Yup. I'm basically a year ahead of where you are right now. Youtube is your friend and the skies the limit in terms of customizations you may want to make.

i have a reaction rod and torque wrench (inBR) if anyone ever needs one to tighten their barrel nut. Sucks to have to buy a rod just to do that.

Yeah I had to stick a pipe on my wrench to get the proper leverage to undo a barrel nut a few months ago. For a little bit I thought it just wasn't coming off

Blem upper + blem lower comes in right around $400 I believe. Hell of a good deal these days compared to the rest of the market, but it seems like any AR15 should be like $500 at the most. There aint shite to those things. Its all aluminum and plastic.

Its a cheap AR. Its supposed to be little bit sloppy. Let it be what it is.

Seems like a pretty dumb statement. Why would you leave it loose if the fix is so simple and inexpensive?

Barrel nuts are torqued down well, which is a good thing, because it literally holds the barrel on against the force of explosions.

Gave me a good excuse to buy a proper torque wrench, too!

Went shoot the new rifle this weekend.
I enjoyed it a lot. So now i need a scope. I dont plan to shoot over 100 yards. Should i go red dot, or something with a little magnification for 100 yards or less. Obviously itll mostly be shooting paper targets and possibly the occasional pig. Id prefer to keep it sub $300. Any recs? It already has magpul flip up sights.

If you go red dot, get a 2 moa dot. You gun will keep your group within that dot at 100 yards.

If you want to shoot at targets and the occasional pig, get a scope. If you want to shoot at pigs and the occasional target, get a red dot.

If I put a scope on mine I’d get a 1-6x or 1-8x with an illuminated recticle. But I’m very satisfied with my dot

I ordered a Sig Romeo 5 from Amazon Prime. I figure if I don't like it, I can just return it and order a scope. It was like $130.

Anyone have any recommendations for a ready to go, tricked out AR that I can just buy without having to do all the work that wouldn't absolutely murder my wallet?

Really want an AR but just don't have the time to go down all the rabbit holes and do it myself, at least currently. I plan to at some point but would like to get my first before I can.

Just do like i did and buy a complete upper and complete lower. It took 5 seconds to put them together and be ready to shoot.

Also, i canceled the Sig Romeo 5 and went with the Vortex Crossfire. Getting it bore sighted tomorrow and will sight it in saturday or sunday morning.

get a blemished complete upper and blemished complete lower from Palmetto State Armory, put them together in a matter of seconds and go start shooting.

Honestly, i dont know. The reviews for both of them were really positive for that price range. They were both $150 before tax (crossfire was marked down from $210 or $220). So i picked that one and will try it out this weekend. If i dont like it, ill box it up and return it for the sig. I doubt academy will give me and problems trying to return it.

There isn't enough difference between any of the red dots to matter.

I have a janky UTG mounted on a vper and it hadn't died from recoil.

I didnt find much difference looking through the two in the store, but shooting with them may be different. The only real difference in the specs was that the sig has an automatic shutoff if it doesnt detect any motion after two minutes. The vortex you have to manually shut off. But they both claim 50,000 hours of battery life at medium brightness.
