I bought a car recently from out of state. Took it to get inspected and was told the tint on the front windows is too dark - 40% and Louisiana maximum is 32%. They did not give me a rejection sticker, but told me the police are cracking down on them about tint. Suggestions? BR area stations that would let me slide?

Think your numbers are wrong.

I have 20% and mine are too dark. 40% would be good.

40% is lighter than 32%

The lower the number the darker the tint.

Find another shop. There’s few where I live that don’t give af about tint. Cops won’t stop you for just tint. But if they pull you over and your a dick then they will find everything they can wrong with your car and then slam you for tint.

Unless the law changed very recently the limit is 40% on front side windows, 25% on rear side windows and 12% on back glass.

Also if you are doing it for heat rejection the best tints out there reject the same amount of heat regardless of how light or dark.

Never once been told no for tint. Never in Louisiana or the 4 years I've been in Texas.

But this year for some reason I got the no. So I just haven't driven my car in a couple months.

There's one on Greenwell Springs that will do it. Can't remember the name - someone here probably knows

Fair. FWIW I work from home and we take the newer car 99.3% of the time.

Considering selling and just getting a golf cart, to be honest.

Can't believe I'm about to give away all my secrets to you ungrateful bums of the OT, but here comes the olive branch:

Simply go to an optometrist and let them know you are having trouble driving at high noon and early afternoon when the sun is glaring down. They'll write you a waiver that you then get endorsed on your DL and a document for your glove box. At that point, you'll be clear to have limo tint on any and all windows both if you get stopped by 5-O for speeding or annual inspection.

You're welcome.

I went through a roadblock in Hammond last week. The officer at my window was hounding me about my tint. The officer behind my truck said "mississippi plates". The officer at my window responded to me "have a nice day sir"

Why are cops this lazy? Get off TD and go patrol.

They will in Terrebonne parish.

Got a ticket some years back and was pulled over only because my tint was dark.

When is the last time you did this? Because its not so simple anymore.

I had a trooper tell me to get a waiver because of severe burns, and not being able to be in sunlight for long periods.

Had everything done, paperwork etc. Still got turned down.

Also learned that it has to be renewed every 6 years.

Still trying to get my waiver because the sun and my scars don't play well but I guess assholes like you are the reason I'm having so much trouble getting my waiver
