Why is Ball worth $10mil more a year than Graham?

Is it mostly on upside? Defensive Ability? Length?

Age, perceived upside, name, rumored unseen defensive prowess.

I mean his last name is Ball. Clearly he knows how to play.

Honest answer - he’s not. We got a steal.
Age and “potential” are the trendy answers, but we Pels fans know the truth

He’s not.
If both entered the league with zero preconceived notions regarding fame, draft position, etc… and you just looked at their careers thus far, they would be valued very similarly (Ball might still be valued more highly, likely not double the value though). But one is from LA, went to UCLA, played for the Lakers, has a loud mouth dad, and was drafted second overall, while the other is from NC, was drafted in the second round by Charlotte, and has very little media coverage/presence.

Age 23 Ball vs Graham’s 26. Ball has actually shown the ability to improve
Graham was 34% from the field and 28% from 3 when he was 23 y/o.
Age and development matter. Guys like Ball will always get paid until it’s proven they have reached their ceiling. Graham is ceilinged out or near it, based on historic data

Nah hes not
they both worth less than what Graham got. 8th men.

I think Lonzo has showed flashes of a 21 million dollars a year man. There were times where he would string together a few great games and where we’re not winning games without him. But for every game like that there is 3 where he sucked at pretty much everything. That’s inconsistency is why I don’t think he is worth it.

Sunken cost fallacy
He "cost" more because of where he was drafted, so people assign a higher value to him - mostly based off the potential of someone drafted in that slot
Anyone who has watched Ball knows he just doesn't have "it", and in reality is a $21 million point guard who can't point guard and shoots threes well in spurts

On 14min coming off the bench.

I think his point was more that Graham improved a lot from 23-26, so Lonzo also has the ability to improve.
The issue with Lonzo, is that he has improved his shooting, but that kinda seems like all he’s improved. His biggest issue is the way that he plays.

You're getting downvoted, but you are 100% right.

Is that worth 2x the price though? That was more of my point. Both of their stats are pretty close. Ball making $16mil based on potential is over thing.

No, they are probably worth like 13-16 mil per season, maybe Graham on the low side of that and Lonzo on the high side, just due to age/potential. Lonzo would only be worth 20ish mil if he was on a title contending team and he was the 4th best player. On the Bulls he’s their 4th best player, but I’m not a big fan of 2/3 of their best players.

I think the fit with Chicago is good. We always knew he'd needed an elite SG who can do all the things he couldn't at a high level to balance him out. A low usage nonball dominate PG who can offer spacing and playmaking. He fits that team really well. I can see why he's worthwhile to them at 80+ especially when they are trying to get Lavine to re-sign there.

I LOL’d after Ball went to the Bulls and then Bleacher Report posted a top ten plays of him from last year.
