I sure hope it is. Jones would be a big get I think. I was optimistic about him up until the performance he had at the combine last week.

Jones is an older catcher that will be a draft eligible sophomore which automatically hurts him with some teams. The feeling is real...still it only takes one team to over reach.

It's tough to take Folse's estimates seriously because he writes about players like a fangirl and only sees things through the prism of LSU baseball, not the wider MLB landscape.

If he truly did write he thinks 100% that Jones goes to LSU then he's never followed Zach Lee, Brody Colvin, or ZVR sagas till the final day...heck even Brice Turang went out of his way for a couple of weeks to get fans hopes up.
Edit: I still can't believe Colvin and ZVR were in the same class. That was a gut punch to Mainieri's staff for years.

Aaron Nixon (Texas pitcher) in the portal. Had a down year this year but was good in his freshman year

I wonder if CJJ is telling any of the potential portal pitchers who the next PC at LSU is going to be it just hasn't been announced yet. I say that because I'm sure that's the first question CJJ is being asked.

My guess is he is talking to them more about pitching philosophy and the types of coaches he is looking at. I doubt he’s giving them names unless it’s a signed deal

I don’t know what he is doing but IMO it is hurting us with portal pitchers not having a pitching coach.

For God's sake, it hasn't even been a week! I'd rather him make the right hire than just rush to have a coach on staff!

Not sure that’s why I said in my opinion. I don’t know who he has been after other than Hurd, Little, and the guy from BYU. Like the other guy said I am sure he has a plan. I just think it’s easier having a pitching coach on staff at this critical moment.

I’ve heard of a few names but I haven’t tried to confirm them so I really don’t want to say names. I will tell you that one was the guy at USM
