Looking to purchase something new.

I have a FN Herstal FNP9, which I bought back in 2011.

It shoots just fine. Just looking for a change.

Any reviews?

I’d highly recommend buying one. I have one and it’s one of my favorite pistols to shoot that’s not a 1911.

I have one. It's a base pre 2020 model and it's a nice pistol. The 2020 production change increased mag capacity from 15 to 17 and added optic cut slide. Tons of vp9 variants and there are quite a few so look to see what features you want.

I have the VP9L and I like it. Haven't shot a lot of rounds through it cus 9mm ammo. But has good ergos and decent trigger.

Have one and love it. One of the best striker fired triggers out there.

A shooting buddy of mine has the VP9, I’ve only shot it a time or two but it is a fun shoot. I put a lot of thought into buying one during my last gun purchase. I went with a .44 mag instead.

How is that to shoot? Fun or painful, or both?

I recently bought a Springfield 1911 and I love it.

Best gun I’ve shot.

I want to have a 9mm along with my 45.

The FNP9 served me well over the years.

Time to upgrade.

I bought a Springfield Range officer 1911 9mm about 5 years ago for under $500.

One of my best purchases from Academy that I just couldn’t pass up.

I’ve got 2 custom STI 1911’s one in .45 and one 10mm and that Springfield is way more fun to shoot. Most of that is the 9mm but the gun is slick orverall.

Have one, go try a Canik Combat Elite or Executive. Trigger is every bit as good if not better than the VP9. Love them all .

Best striker fired pistol in my opinion. Trigger and grip better than Glock.

Bedside, car, target shooter.

My cc is a Shield.

It is fun to shoot but you don’t want to shoot it a lot. I normally only shoot 10 or so shots before I go back to the 9mm.

I’m in the market for a full size revolver. I’ll get the 357 but every now and then I’ll see a 44 mag for the same price…

I watched Dirty Harry recently and he famously used a 44 mag. Is it possible for someone to do casually shoot a 44mag like he does or is it just movie magic? With no ear protection would it blow out eardrums?

I’m a big guy, I can shoot it fine but I see where it could be a powerful weapon for a smaller stature guy. I love the Dirty Harry movies too and yes a lot of that is just movie magic. It definitely has a lot of kick. I would not shoot it with out hearing protection. I made the mistake of shooting a .357 like that once. I had ringing in the ears for a week.

The .44 is a great gun, but like I said “I only shoot it a couple of times when I take it out”. It’s hard to tell you what it is like shooting, you just kind of have to shoot it. Don’t think .45 if you do shoot one. A .45 is a puppy compared to a .44mag as far as shooting it goes.

I feel like the recoil for a .44 mag is different than most pistols.

The hammer drops and the 1st thing that happens is that it shoves your shoulders back. Then you get the upward recoil that you get with most other pistol calibers.

I have not shot one in several years. I had one in a Ruger Blackhawk. Will probably get another one in a double action and a 6” barrel.
