Mississippi asks the Supreme Court to overturn Roe v. Wade

XiNN Link - Will Kavanaugh and Barrett have the stones to overturn?
quote:
Mississippi's attorney general told the Supreme Court on Thursday that Roe v. Wade was "egregiously wrong" and should be overturned as she urged the justices to allow a controversial law that bars most abortions after 15 weeks to go into effect.
"The conclusion that abortion is a constitutional right has no basis in text, structure, history, or tradition" state Attorney General Lynn Fitch told the justices in a new brief, launching the opening salvo in the most important abortion-related dispute the court has heard in decades.
Fitch said that the case for overruling Roe is "overwhelming."
quote:
Oral arguments will likely be heard in the late fall or early winter with a decision expected by next June in advance of the midterm elections.
Mississippi's Gestational Age Act, passed in 2018 but blocked by two federal courts, allows abortion after 15 weeks "only in medical emergencies or for severe fetal abnormality" and has no exception for rape or incest. If doctors perform abortions outside the parameters of the law they will have their medical license suspended or revoked and may be subject to additional penalties and fines.

Shooters shoot.
I applaud the effort, but I predict a 7-2 ruling against MS.

I predict that Mississippi will lose on an extreme technicality pushed by John Roberts that has nothing to do with whether abortion is a constitutional right.

While they’re asking the federal government to protect human life, they should also ask the fed to secure the borders and eliminate the debt.

I’ll read it. Are writs accepted?
I’ve never figured out why the states don’t file some kind of due process challenge in favor of the unborn.
I think abortion on demand amounts to the taking of life/liberty of unborn child without due process of law, and I’ve never understood why no state has made that argument.
If you can charge someone criminally for double homicide if he murders a pregnant woman- the law acknowledges that conception, is the point where life begins

Roe (Norma) lied, millions of innocent babies died. Just remember what these people are willing to do to innocent babies next time they tell you to disarm

Abortion should be abolished. No civilized individual would ever accept something so heinous.

So we’re against “my body my choice” when a woman decides whether or not to give birth. But when it comes to putting a needle in an arm with a vaccine that at this point has been given to millions & millions of people, it’s “but mah freedumb!!!”
Did I get that right?
Did I get that right?

John Roberts will agree that it’s unconstitutional but then claim that abortion is just a “human tax” and then allow for up to 64 month abortions.

The baby is neither her body nor her choice. It's the baby's body and therefore the baby's choice.

Most of those laws essentially only exist as “trigger laws” so that you can make the argument you’re making right now.

No, but maybe you made yourself feel better about murdering babies.

Supreme Court Response: No Standing

No way Roberts has the stones to reverse Roe. He’s insufferable
That said - it’s yet to be seen with Kav, ACB and Gorsuch. I can see ACB voting in favor of overturning as well as Gorsuch. Thomas and Alito are a lock for the yes. The only one I have questions about is Kav.
I hope Thomas writes the opinion as a swan song.

Those laws predated Roe I believe.
California charged Scott Peterson with double homicide and dude is either dead or on death row bc of it. That’s pretty much the last place on earth I would think would be going around enforcing a trigger law for Roe v Wade.
Abortions are barbaric.

Agreed
But god bless Mississippi and good for them for forcing the Court to take a stand

And TX just passed a law that makes abortion illegal 30 days after it is overturn. A long standing auto kick-off deal.
Sign, sealed, delivered this week.

I have my doubts that the cowards will do the right thing but I hope and pray that one day abortion is made illegal and we as a nation repent off our sin.
