Salt Lake City declares racism a public health crisis

Salt Lake City's mayor and the seven members of its city council have adopted a joint resolution that declares racism a public health crisis.
The resolution states that "in our capacity as a local municipal authority we declare racism as a moral and public health crisis in our city, state, and nation and reaffirm our commitment to the principles of the Utah Compact on Racial Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion."
"This is an important declaration for us to make as a City. Not only are we publicly acknowledging the existence of a grave inequity that many in our community have known and experienced for so long, we are also committing ourselves to the creation of policies and ordinances that are anti-racist," the mayor said, according to a press release.
"There is no doubt of the crisis. Our society is burdened with bigotry and all the hatred that comes with it," Council Chair Amy Fowler said. "Indeed, it is a moral imperative to combat racism, discrimination, and inequities in all their forms."
Fierce debate continues to rage in the U.S. over issues such as whether the nation is infected by systemic racism and whether concepts related to critical race theory should be included in education.

I’m assuming they’re talking about the 20% Hispanic population and not the 2.4% black population in Salt Lake City. What a fricking hoax, I wonder what agendas will follow post claim of the of the racism crisis there?

At this point how can anybody take this seriously when SLC of all places is blowing up about racism. There aren't enough black people there to fill a basketball gym but they have a public health crisis from racism? The people who actually are serious about racism should be pissed off at cities like SLC for their fake arse bandwagoning, but we all know it's not really about that

The black population of the state of Utah is 1.2%...out of 3.3 million.
I have more black people living within a 10 mile radius of me than the entire state of Utah. We have a different definition of many.

You always see statements like this, but the evidence is never provided. Show us the inequities. That should be easy if these inequities are so rampant they created a "health crisis" (more total idiocy). And if you do find an inequity, are you saying there isn't already a law against whatever caused it, i.e. discrimination? bullshite. All this "social injustice", white cops gunning down unarmed black, etc is all a hoax, just like the exaggerated threat of covid that led to lockdowns, school closing, and masks. Clown world.

Salt Lake has gotten woke in the last year or so. It was always more liberal than the rest of the state. It seemed WAY worse than it had been in the past.
You have to try and find black people in Salt Lake. The George Floyd mural was across the street from our favorite brewery, Fisher Brewery. Not sure who the other two guys are, but it’s not Washington or Jefferson.
