Rick Rubin chatting with Paul McCartney about various Beatles, Wings, and solo songs and breaking them down, much like the Classic Album series.
It is so damned good. Up to part three of the six or so. I love when they separate out the tracks on the board. I’m not a musician or creative person, so hearing the individual parts and how they were dreamed up and put together is amazing.
The separated bass track on How My Guitar Gently Weeps, for example, was really eye opening as to how creative those guys were.
Other folks like Clapton and Hendrix come up along the way. Well worth a watch.

I don't have Hulu, but I'll try to watch it. Always been a fan of Rubin.

Do you know where I can watch these? I've sadly never heard of this

Thanks for the reminder. I was just scrolling through to find something to watch that I'm not watching with my SO and he's not a big Beatles fan so this works fantastically.

I’m 2 episodes in and it’s fricking amazing.

watched it thru last night, amazing.
glad they focused on the songwriting process which is frankly hard to comprehend...those four guys were cranking out classic original songs out of whole cloth in the studio with groundbreaking arrangements in a matter of hours, then on to the next
You could tell that Rubin had a hard time getting his head around how that was possible considering he’s spent his adult life in recording studios. The Beatles were a miracle

Plan on watching it.
Anything w/the Living King of Music is always a must watch.

Watched all 6 today. They are greatness for a Beatle fan or any music fan interested in how we got where we are musically today. I love the isolated tracks and the insight from someone who was in the room.
Highly recommend.

Huge Beatles fan and this is easily my favorite documentary I've seen on their music. AS mentioned, the approach and style of the doc is just fascinating to watch and means more knowing Paul is the last and won't be around forever.

Watching now. Paul's recall of the origins behind the songs, almost 60 years after the fact, is savant-like. I'm loving this.
The story of how John grew up is heart-breaking. All that abandonment and heartache helped make him arguably the greatest songwriter that's ever lived.
Paul looks good for just turning 79. Though this was done before that, obviously. But he has aged well.

The day Paul leaves this world will be the day the music dies.

What a great moment at the end of ep 5.

I'm a little behind but I finally bit the bullet and signed up for HULU after BluegrassBelle in the GET BACK thread turned me on to this McCartney 3, 2,1 series.
I'm one episode in and it is fvcking fantastic. It's not as linear a storyline as say the chronological documentation of the Get Back events, but man, the stories/anecdotes and behind-the-scenes details of the Beatles songs & moments are absolutely amazing.
It's another entree' if you still have an appetite for some Beatles.
