I’m looking for a great, family friendly downtown to stroll in the evening with a baby and your spouse.

New Orleans is too dirty and has too much crime.

I’ve been to Perkins Rowe too many times.

Thank you for any recommendations.

this is not Downtown Baton Rouge.

Also...you are looking to specifically drive to a random Louisiana city to stroll their downtown area?

That only counts if you start on Spanish town Rd but that’s a long walk

Covington on a Friday when they have a "block party."

Yes, it would be for a weekend trip.

Not for a random Tuesday night

However, it may one day be downtown St George.

Covington.

The trailhead and park are a couple of blocks off of Main Street (Boston).

Tons of places to eat, HJ Smiths is interesting (including a treasure trove of odd assortments in their museum). Ice Cream at Hoo Doos is damned tasty on the same street (Columbia). There are also shops on Lee Lane. Columbia and Lee Lane intersect with Boston (Main).

It is a good downtown for a smallish city.
