Bel Edwards vetoed 28 bills. Can someone list the top 5 that need to be overriden?

Did not get a 2/3rds in either chamber first time.
Override won't happen.

Need 70 in the House and 26 in the Senate

HB498 (Vaccine Discrimination)

LINK

Got 25 votes in Senate, one short of an override with 2 republicans absent.
Got 71 votes in the house, with a few absents but some democratic support too.
Could happen.

HB20 (Prohibits private funds for election expenses)

LINK

26 votes in Senate with Cloud absent.
Only 69 votes in the House with no absents.
So unlikely.

Well the math should be different when there is a spotlight. Plus, you have to believe they have the votes for the ones they want to veto.

Yes, but both ways.

On one hand the governor will be putting on a full court press. He does NOT want to be first governor since the 90s to have a veto overridden. Or the first one ever in an override session. That just looks bad.

OTOH, you have just a handful of bills on relatively easy to understand issues. Constituents will be looking at their legislator's actions. I think a consistent no vote won't be too bad (voted no in the regular and special session) but a switch from yes to no will be a political kiss of death for any republican. Democrats might be a different story.

So it will be interesting.

Has a governor ever vetoed that many bills or even close to 28?
