Seems that the used market is very hot right now. My elderly mother no longer needs her vehicle and I’m looking at options to help her get it sold.

There seem to be quite a few options out there.....does anyone have experience with Carmax, Carvana, Givemethevin, etc? Selling a vehicle online seems to be an easy process these days but I’m wondering if anyone has found one of those companies to be superior to the others.

Carvana always appears to have the smoothest process but I don't have actual experience with it.

Always start with Carmax, get their 7-day guarantee and use that price to leverage the others. You'll get 20% higher than Carmax when it's all said and done.

we listed our 2007 cadillac escalade on my wife's buy/sell/trade at 9pm and we had 3 buyers wanting it and a cashier's check in hand by 9am the next morning.

eta we sold it for almost double what the cadillac dealer was willing to take on trade-in.

eta2 carmax also offered a couple grand more for it than the dealer which surprised me.

Sold one to CarMax a few years ago. Pretty simple process, and you can enter all the car info online and they'll give you a preliminary offer on it. If you like the offer, take it down there and they'll do a visual inspection. That's what I did, and they actually increased their offer after inspecting it.

Broom

Go through the process, snap some photos, upload your documents, get a deposit when it is picked up

i am honestly surprised at what carmax is offering these days. i just expected a lowball offer but it was better than what the dealer was offering on a trade-in.

I got quotes from gmtv, carmax/vroom, and carvana. They all were in the 12,500 range. Gvtv actually emailed and texted to tell me there computer generated offer was too low and raised to 14,500. I was not willing. The book value was around 19,000 for a private sale. I listed on Craigslist and texags and sold it to a guy in texag s for 17,500. I was sold less than 4 hours after I posted. Buyer came to my house a few days later and closed. Easy.

how else do you sell it?

Not sure if people use auto trader but thats a site i always used to look for used cars or advertise vehicles for sale.

I did craigslist once but get ready for people to call you and offer you crazy shite like $20 and a blow job for the car. And always meet them at like a shopping center or something to show the car not at your house.

I used givemethevin, they will top carmax. I know those who use carvana that went smooth. I wouldn't hesitate to use any of those three.

Have sold to Carvana. Super easy. Had to drive from BTR to Beaumont to meet them though. But met them, signed papers, they gave me a check and I rented a car home.

They also offered me WAY more than anyone else.

Craigslist is usually your best bet IMO. Responses to ads are mostly legitimate. You don't get 1000's of messages from numbskull inbred tards saying "Is this available?" with no followup.
