per Shams

quote:

The 76ers have opened up trade conversations surrounding Simmons and have engaged with teams, sources told The Athletic. Those sources also say that teams that have engaged with the 76ers about Simmons have been met with a high price threshold for the three-time All-Star.

“(The 76ers) want an All-Star-caliber player in return,” one source with knowledge of the ongoing talks said. Make no mistake: Interest across the league in Simmons remains robust. He’s turning just 25 this month, was an All-NBA team member in 2019-20, is a two-time All-Defensive first-team member and a Rookie of the Year award winner. Simmons is under contract through 2025, making him the type of superstar talent that rarely becomes available at an attainable price at this juncture of his career.

The Pels have allegedly made an offer for him and I'm beside myself with what it could be that would not make me very unhappy.

I dunno if I'd want to trade for a headcase. All the potential in the world, but he just doesn't seem to have it between the ears.

Is a good fit.

Ben Simmons is a terrible fit.

Definitely has some sort of shooting yips and questionable work ethic.

But he's not a bad guy and he's an elite defender. I think the right coach and situation could make it work. Needs someone like a Kobe Bryant calling him a soft bitch in practice every day and a coach that can deal with his yips.

He would fit in great with the Heat then. Jimmy Butler to dog cuss him every practice and Spoelstra to help his shooting issues

one of the main reasons Jimmy left Philly was to not have to deal with Simmons.

That ain't happening, Simmons isn't built to play with a dude like Butler.

Philly fans, teammates and coaches all took turns throwing him under the bus and publicly turned on him, now the fans are gonna be pissed when he doesn't yield an all star back in return

You never know, but I think it's the only way for him to get a fire lit under his arse.

Maybe him being an international joke in the sport after that playoff performance will do it though.

I’m surprised at what they say his value is. He basically gave up trying to score in the playoffs….

There would be a fist fight I'm sure

Maybe I've seen too many Disney sports movies, but sometimes that is the catalyst needed to wake up a sleepwalking super talent like Ben.

He is NOT an elite defender…. He is good though… but besides being able to handle the ball and make some pretty passes he is overall not that good.

People are a little caught up in the moment. He is an ELITE defender, good rebounder, great size, ELITE passer.

He has a mental block on scoring, and teams believe they can take a player that has so much going for him and "change him". They all have confidence in themselves.

I think that is...a risk.
