Beaver Creek… people suck

This is a very nice course that’s in great shape and really affordable to play but damn it man people don’t take care of it. It seems like no one knows how to repair their ball marks or divots. People driving up on the fringe with their gold carts to putt. I’ve played it 3x’s in the last couple months and it’s a regular occurrence.
Take care of the place people.

I’ll say it and I don’t care. Since Dumas went to 9 holes and Clark closed, that course brought in more shitty golfers that DGAF about keeping things nice. They play twilight and for cheap and don’t give a shite what happens. I’ve noticed the same thing and had to step away for a while
eta: this isn’t about race. College kids (I should add LSU collapsing too), guys wearing jeans and jorts playing, etc etc

I play twilight for cheap, and I get to avoid the heat. The course is empty almost every single late afternoon i play.
Edit: This doesn't mean I don't fix ball marks
It means there are way more people playing during the morning-early afternoon that don't fix their marks than people who play twilight.

Agreed. Play fast, fix ball marks, stay on cart path at green, don’t spit sunflower seed shells on the course or green. Do this, I don’t care what you wear.
I swear i played with a guy wearing cowboy boots a few years back.

I played Friday. Course is in Awesome shape.
Having said that, I talked ab it with our entire group. There were ball marks all over those greens. Our foursome easily fixed 10-12 ball marks per hole. There were several bunkers that were not raked. And I also witnessed a cart driving on a tee box and about 10 paces from the green.
Really need to keep the few nice courses we have nice.

The only reasonable response to this is the Golf Board needs to start making citizen’s arrests when this silliness is observed.

This would be great !!! Hahahaha

I must have fixed 50-60 ball marks on Sunday. Watched the guy 2 groups ahead nearly every hole pull up the cart right up next to the green because his lazy arse couldn’t handle 20 extra steps.
They need marshals w/ balls to shut some of this down. It ain’t about race and I don’t care what your wearing. Respect the course and the game.

Saw that shite Saturday. Is it too much to ask you wear a decent pair of shorts and a collared shirt?

This is every course in NOLA too. I’ve chalked it up to a bunch of new golfers since Covid and they just don’t know any better.
Audubon, bayou oaks, Bartholomew, doesn’t matter. Divots and ball marks everywhere.

You are right about NOLA courses. Played Bayou Oaks south in divot marks everywhere.
I was playing a course a couple of years ago and was fixing divots(not mine's). A Marshall watched me do that for a couple of holes. He told me he would give me a free round since I was fixing multiple divots. He didn't.

Played out there yesterday and noticed the ball marks. I made it a point to fix every one I saw. Unfortunately I didn't make very many

Beaver Creek needs to raise average rates and get a Marshall.

Here’s the thing- I don’t care if you wear a wife beater and biker shorts as long as you don’t drag your feet on the greens and repair your ball marks and play at a reasonable pace.
Raking bunkers or not is annoying but I will just give myself another lie or rake the area I landed and replace the ball.
I’m still a little torn between which is worse:
Not repairing ball marks on the green or improper repair. At least I have a chance to repair it properly versus people killing the grass from poor repair.
And don’t think this stuff happens only from the people you described in your OP. I see lots of people out here paying upwards of $100-$150/ rd wearing proper attire and still not repairing marks. It’s beyond annoying.

Ill tell you what is the worst. Someone took a 4 wheeler to number 11 green at The Island last night
Posted on 7/6/21 at 11:28 am to dirtytigers
That is the worst. That jackhole(s) should be forced into either financial restitution or better yet have to work off the total cost of repair by hand mowing the course in the summer.

I wish it could be blamed on Covid because then it would be a very recent problem, but it's not.
I ran golf courses for 45 years and this is an age old problem. I tried every way imaginable to educate people, embarrass them, berate them, whatever, you name it, and I still haven't figured out how to change someone's attitude who thinks because they paid a greens fee or their dues that they can do what they please and frick anyone who doesn't like it.
It's no worse now than it was 60 years ago; just more golfers.

You’ve got to be kidding me! I hope they find out who it was and take action.

I think this is true for the most part, but I do believe the policy of no rakes in the bunkers during the pandemic has made golfers even lazier about raking bunkers now that the rakes are back.
