you serious Clark? most pro athletes, couldn't balance a checkbook(if anyone still used checks,) much less negotiate a bidness deal, a lot of them have been absolutely hosed and are broke at the end of their careers by making poor bidness decisions, only going to be worse for these student athletes

I’m happy that they’re able to make money off their likeness, but I don’t need to get on here and hear about every single deal that gets made.
Then don't click the thread. That was hard.
Some people here are interested in what LSU athletes are doing. This is now part of that.

I would like to see this as an avenue for these kids to get away from using money from gangs and the mafia

Do pro athletes need agents? No but it makes the process go a lot smoother.
Most pro athletes would screw up the process so bad and make way less money if they didn’t have agents.

Those guys spend many years in their profession. They don’t walk out of college and get handed a million dollar contract. You say the college coaching salaries are too high, and you could be very right, but that market is set because colleges are in search of the very top 1% in a large field of college coaches.

hate to be a pessimist but I see it as a way for them to have more money to spend on drugs and nefarious activities, curious to see how this is going to affect team chemistry across the country, athletes can be some brutal and petty mofos and treat lesser players on the team like dogshit as it is, I wonder how this is going to play out towards the players that aren't getting any sort of deals, the ones that are are probably going to be constantly rubbing it their faces

This will destroy college football. I don't think it's necessarily a bad thing, CFB is already semi pro. Combine this with expanded gambling and the academics will not stand for it.
And it will happen quickly.
And it will happen quickly.

Where did I say coaching salaries are too high? All I said is that everyone else involved is getting paid, why not the players whose brands are worthy of NIL contracts?

It is a valid point as many kids come from bad environments. It will never happen but if the ncaa and NFL stopped taking in players with felonies, or certain kinds of felonies, you could see a culture change. Or more corruption...

You can greatly improve your 40 time by running like you stole something.

I see I see in the future kick backs from the players to coaches for playing time, joint endorsement deals. This will not be good.

Man, how much bank could Leonard Fournette have made at LSU?

Can't imagine that happening. Coaches get paid millions of dollars a year. Any player who can top that is good enough to start on merit.
Plus putting a worse team on the field is a good way to get fired even if you don't get busted.
