... 18 year olds making bank with no supervision.
Groupies, fast cars, clothes, booze, weed.... What could possibly go wrong?

It will have a lot of unintended consequences when kids are more focused on making money than school and grinding to get better.

Star college athletes have had access to every vice you mentioned basically forever now

Yes.. But now they don't have to keep it on the down low... It will be a shite show of the highest order....

I can’t wait for pregame warmups with players wearing Gordon Mckernan shooter sleeves and Nike gloves with his face on the palms.. it’ll be glorious.
Offensive lineman sponsored by pluckers, twin peaks, etc..
Let the kids make their money.. if you can capitalize on your hard work and dedication, why shouldn’t you?

So… exactly what they have access to already.

I work in another athletic department in D-1. Universities and colleges will partner with 3rd party financial companies to teach student athletes how to manage and save their money they make off their name, image, and likeness. If anything, this encourages them to set themselves up for the future more so than not being able to profit off their NIL, especially those student athletes who do not make millions at the professional level.

Sooooo no different than now basically

Don’t be worry bout the weed much longer. Bo Bahnson is retiring after this year, and they’ll make sure to replace him with some more malleable.

So the same things we all had in college, theirs will just be better

18 year olds in any other profession are allowed to make unlimited money, so why should athletes be any different than social media personalities etc.

I think you’re overestimating how much a freshman will make. Only freshmen that would make actual money are people like Livvy who had like 500k followers (could be more idk) when she signed with LSU and Dellinger said about 0.8 cents per follower is the standard rate.
Also MOST FRESHMAN DRINK AND SMOKE, REGARDLESS OF IF THEY ARE AN ATHLETE

It’s going to a hilarious shitshow.
18 year old boys from poor backgrounds with lots of money and their leeching friends.
Oh well, I’m not going to shed a tear for them any more than I do for the pro athletes and entertainers who do the same thing.
