He said it was a matter of logistics - the 7/1 deadline and trying to shape the roster within the 11.7. He did say that he would like to have him back and hopes to have him back. To me, it sounds like he wasn't sure about his scholly fitting in with the plan just yet but he wouldn't know that until everything unfolded (transfers, draft, other guys that were spoken to about possibly losing scholarship money). With that said, he supported Arnold wanting to test the waters.

Not starting a post about it but some other things that stood out about what Johnson said on AFR:
He expects to open at least some of the practices to fans. He believes in having days without outside noise, but he welcomes the idea of having the kids practice in front of fans. He's amazed and excited that fans would even want to watch practice.
Transfers are a matter of fit. It's important to acknowledge team chemistry when considering whether or not to bring certain guys in, as much it is about filling spots or bettering the team from a talent standpoint. He said he's still very big on development.
His scheduling has always been about building an RPI. In the SEC, however, you're playing against top 50 teams every weekend so that kind of takes care of itself. Otherwise, he thinks it's about balancing challenges with building confidence.
He ate fried alligator with CPM.

Yeah, was excited to hear they will make scrimmages more game-like

I think this is a positive thing. I know that the general expectation is for the deadline to be moved. However, if I was a player, there’s no way I would trust the NCAA when it comes to making a decision about what’s best for my future. The fact that he’s the only one from our team (that we know of) that’s in the portal right now is huge

What scrimmages weren’t game like in the past?
Posted on 6/30/21 at 7:35 pm to Naptime
Im not saying they werent. Just using what he said.
I know they stopped a bunch previously. To make corrections and changed the amount of outs needed. Thats what ive heard from others.

Brooks Rice and Kaminer are both in the portal.
Arnold is the only real contributor in at the moment.

He was actually referencing practices, and not intersquads...or at least that's how I interpreted it.
