Would you rather a lineup with Gavin Dugas or Tre Morgan batting in all 9 spots?

From an OPS standpoint, which is the stat most directly correlated with scoring runs, Dugas would be more valuable.

But Morgan would be more aesthetically pleasing to watch.

Tre Morgan’s easily. If 3/4 guys get singles one after the other, that’s a crooked number every inning.

All Dugas’s and you get a solo hr once per inning.

Tre Morgan bats .750?

That's a little optimistic of Tre's lineup. That would mean he's batting .750

Dugas*

Tre’a improved Avg and OBP is marginal compared to Dugas’s power numbers

I’ll take the lineup with fricking 171 Homers.

*Damn autocorrect

Dugas. Morgan is a damn good player but Dugas has unlimited potential.

I'd be lying if I said that wasn't the first thing I thought of.

See I think it’s the exact opposite. Dugas is a dang good player and I would take him right now but Morgan has unlimited potential

I think the things they have to improve on it’s probably Morgan who has the easier road

He can add muscle which hopefully will lead to more power. That seems like just a natural thing for an 18 year old.

Dugas needs to improve his approach and contact numbers but he’s not bad and his power is there.

Probably Dugas, because with that many ABs he is bound to hit more homers.

It’s a good question but I think I would have to go Dugas right now in their careers. Dugas just had a criminally underrated 19 home run season.

Now if we are talking we have to use this lineup for the next 5-10 years I would choose Morgan.

Unlimited??? That’s a bit of a stretch. 5’9” 200. # average arm, average speed.
Good college player, should stay 4 years.
Highly doubt a major leaguer

Tre Morgan. I firmly believe Tre was our best overall player on the 2021 team.

I'll bet you on that.

He's a GREAT defensive first basemen and we have outfielders. He saved our asses a lot with his defense this year.

ETA:

I understand there is an argument the pros will put him there, but I think he stays at 1st at LSU.

Its hard to change position of an All American that has been the best at that position for decades, maybe ever.

Tre Morgan.

OPS is a cool stat, but you need to look beyond that single stat when they are close. Morgan has a better on base % and batting average. Dugas just gets more extra base hits. Everything else points to Morgan being the better hitter.

Will Dugas be back next year?

I hope so, but that question has to be answered before answering the OP's question.
