Part of the issue is that the “forgiveness” was greater than 100% of loan value. In other words, black farmers were not only getting their loans paid off, they were receiving cash in hand.
The major part of the issue is that this was wrapped up in the COVID relief bill, of which less than 2% actually went to COVID relief

Didn't take long, but let's say okay you were discriminated. But then give billions. Will never be enough.
quote:
Pigford v. Glickman (1999) was a class action lawsuit against the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), alleging racial discrimination against African-American farmers in its allocation of farm loans and assistance between 1981 and 1996. The lawsuit was settled on April 14, 1999, by Judge Paul L. Friedman of the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia.[1][2] To date, almost US$1 billion has been paid or credited to more than 13,300 farmers under the settlement's consent decree, under what is reportedly the largest civil rights settlement to date. As another 70,000 farmers had filed late and not had their claims heard, the 2008 Farm Bill provided for additional claims to be heard. In December 2010, Congress appropriated $1.2 billion for what is called Pigford II, settlement for the second part of the case
And for those 13,300 you are talking about 750k that doesn't have to be paid back.
If you can't turn that into some sort of wealth for your family... Well.
And looks like a black farmer came and down voted every post in this thread.

It is total discrimination. Every single group with the exception of white MALE farmers qualify for the loans. Yes, white female farmers qualify. White males make up the ONLY group who isn't "socially disadvantaged"; therefore, they don't qualify.

So they already got their payoff

It's only racist when it doesn't benefit them.

You need ID to purchase land. Blacks are denied ID, so, no land.
It’s a tragedy.

I’m sure that a lot of these same farmers were also getting Pigford settlements based on bullshite.

Might as well let Blacks and Hispanics run the Country!

It's much easier shaking down companies that actually make money than working to earn your own. I doubt that race-baiter has done an hour of honest work in his life.

Why does loan forgiveness include payments to the borrower?

This is not an established fact, and is complete bullshite.
This cannot be overstated. Attempting to rationalize to and brainwash weak and average thinking readers on every leftist position in every article and news medium possible. 2021 Marxist Journo scum.

It should say "Black Farmers Only".
That would be factual.

What happened here is community organizers “helped” the poor black farmers file their applications for a nominal fee of 50% of what they received…. Like crabs in a barrel, blacks simply cannot help but frick over other blacks…
