We are going to Gatlinburg in July and have a few places to eat (Greenbriar and Paula Deen’s restaurant) but have one night where we are undecided. We are eating a lot of southern/home cooking and want something maybe a bit different. Is there a good Mexican place? Any other place that is a must do?

Local Goat is the Goat. Not sure if it’s close to you. I think it’s in Pigeon Forge. It was so good we went twice on our trip. Good beer menu too.

Enjoy the pancakes. There’s a 3 story Mexican place that was good.

Awful awful food there. Awful. Paula deens maybe the worst.

Take the advice I did not: cook every one of your own meals

Paula Deen's restaurant sucks. My favorite is Pancake Pantry. They have so many great sandwich and breakfast options, I could eat there for every meal.

New Orleans Sandwich Company is excellent. I forget the name of the Mexican restaurant across from the aquarium, but it’s not bad.

Not in Gatlinburg (about 30 mins away), but We enjoyed English Mountain Trout Farm. You catch 'em; they cook 'em.

Smoky Mountain Brewery (one in Gatlinburg on the park end and one in Pigeon Forge) has good food and alright beer.

Gatlingburg Brewing Company has really good pizza and better beer.

I don't know about any Mexican places.

If you want some good non-chain food off the strip, check out The Greenbrier Restaurant, Three Jimmy's, or The Rampant Lion.

No Way Jose’s is good. There is one by the aquarium and also one in pigeon forge by the Harley Davidson dealer.

This is of no real help, but last time we went to Gatlinburg we cooked all meals in the cabin. Driving through Gatlinburg and seeing people lined down the street to eat pancakes at 10:30 AM, I felt we made the right choice.

We did eat lunch one day at Mama's Chicken Kitchen and it was quite delicious.

I'm trying to remember this place we went to that had probably the best chili I ever tasted. It was a year before the fire, so I don't know if this place still exists. I just tried to find the name, but couldn't. It may still be there but my memory is fuzzy. From what I remember it was a the bottom of the strip. The building was kind of like Jax brewery in NOLA in that you walked in and there was an atrium and you had to take an elevator/stairs to the second floor. It was a small counter order hamburger place, but the guy had all these trophies and plaques on the wall. He apparently was the Tennessee State Chili champ at one time. I thought it was weird that the chili wasn't the main thing on the menu and don't think it had chili in the name. Anyway it was awesome. It only had a couple of tables that kind of overlooked the atrium. If you find it, it's a good quick lunch with a chili that will stick in your mind for a long time.

I was shocked, but the fried chicken at the Hatfield & McCoys show was some of the best I have had.

Old Mill Cafe is pretty good.

Theres a couple Japanese Places, Nagano and Little Tokyo, that was pretty good.

We had a good meal at JT Hannah's

I have some close friends that moved there from Gretna. I'll see if I can get somw recs from them other than those places.
