Why is this bad? I’ve never applied for a job that didn’t have some sort of salary info advertised

The difference in opinion as to whether companies should or shouldn't advertise can be seen as good or bad.
The state mandating how a job has to be advertised, via a law, oversteps for me. Maybe others don't have a problem with that though.

Because it's a LAW. It's your government out of control.

Are you counting "Commensurate with Experience" or "Negotiable" as "some sort of salary information", or do you just not apply for those positions?
Because other than government positions or seasonal (internship) positions in college, I've applied for a handful of jobs that didn't have a salary advertised, but one of the two statements above listed. I've seen even more positions like that than I've applied for.
This is the definition of government overreach. What business does the government have in dictating how a business advertises a position?

Since leaving my hourly technician position at age 24, I have never applied for a job that did advertise salary. It's on you to figure out how much you are worth (not how much you think you're worth) and on the company to figure out how much they are willing to pay.

Because it’s none of their dang business, that’s why! A company, or a person, should be able to advertise however they want; it’s part of our natural rights. Every government law is a transgression of those rights, and only those laws necessary for an orderly society should be enacted.

GreenRockTiger, difference of generations maybe? I have never taken a job that i knew the salary until i decided to take it. Tell them to pay me what im worth, but I decide if its a job i want first.

I don't want the companies driving salary....I want applicant's skillsets and experience driving salary.

The government shouldn't be setting the terms for how two private parties operate.
