“Ok, we’re going to need you guys to put down riots involving hundreds of people, but you can’t use any force. Ready, go!”
quote:
All 50 of Portland police’s highly trained rapid response unit voted unanimously to resign on Wednesday during a union meeting in response to the recent indictment of Officer Corey Budworth for allegedly assaulting a photographer with his baton during as an overnight riot broke out last August
quote:
That night, according to the police union, a group of about 200 demonstrators – many equipped with tactical helmets, faces covered, and armed with a variety of weapons – descended on the Multnomah Building in southeast Portland. Multiple dumpsters were set on fire, buildings were defaced, and windows were broken. A riot soon was declared at the planned event after someone from the crowd launched a Molotov cocktail into the Multnomah Building, setting it ablaze.
quote:
After nearly 75 consecutive nights of violence, destruction, and mayhem, a small group of RRT (Rapid Response Team) officers—including Officer Budworth—were again tasked with dealing with the riot," the Portland Police Association said. "Per PPB Command Staff orders, RRT officers cleared the rioters from the area to allow the Fire Bureau to extinguish the blaze. But the rioters were not satisfied."
quote:
RRT officers, including Officer Budworth, used their Police Bureau-issued batons to try and stop the crowd’s criminal activity," the union’s description of events continued. "Per his training and in response to the active aggression of a rioter interfering with a lawful arrest, Officer Budworth used baton pushes to move a rioter, now known to be Teri Jacobs, out of the area."
quote:
Jacobs, an activist and photographer, fell to the ground. Cell phone video showing Budworth striking Jacobs in head from behind quickly circulated on social media. But the union said the blow to the head was an accident on the officer’s part and he used the lowest level of baton force.
quote:
Teri Jacobs, was brutally beaten in the head, neck, back, and face with a baton by Corey Budworth at a protest. Officers nearby did not intervene to stop him," her attorney, Juan Chavez, said in a statement on Tuesday. "One indictment, while undoubtedly significant and a wakeup call to Portland Police officers, will not fix problems with policing in our city."
The city of Portland agreed to pay Jacobs $50,000 in a civil settlement related to the incident. She was reportedly wearing press credentials at the time.

This is great news. Needs to happen more often.

No problem. These guys know how to keep a whole city safe, and they are cheap.

frick you and frick them. They should put a huge wall around the POS city and let it rot. They are getting what they voted for.
And if they move anywhere it should be where you live. Texas doesn't need anymore of the people that caused all of that shite moving here.

Hilarious video. This shows the before and after of the idiot politicians. They don't have a clue what they are doing and can't figure out why crime is skyrocketing and response times are increasing. One of their politicians it a predator from Arnold's movies.
Drug cartels? 18 yearolds with sidearms? Is adding more bodies a solution?

I hope. Then, like New York City in the 70s and 80s, they can cry for someone to save them. Let them all fester; when they've had enough in a decade or so, the adults can fix their problems.

What exactly are they supposed to do?
If you can’t use any force, how do they stop a riot?

I'm pretty sure he was. That is what my opinion is based upon anyway. Texas doesn't need any idiot liberal police officers who stayed on the job in that situation in a total shithole all of this time. They probably have worse voting records than the Antifa/BLM idiots they have been coddling for over a year.
Just because they are crying over being sold-out by their fellow Nazi communists and have finally had enough and are throwing in the towel does not mean I want or need them in my state. Let them move to Minneapolis and join the idiot communists over there. Minneapolis is willing to spend a lot of money for new officers (liberal police preferred).
