Am I the only one that hated Jim and Pam as a couple?

I found them completely unwatchable after they were made a couple. Not funny, boring, and to use a wrestling term lost all their heat when they were given their happily ever after ending in season 4, on a 9 season show.
For a comedy built on awkward situations, there was so much more potential to keep them apart, keep the tension bubbling, maybe have them date and then break up but still have to work together. At the start of the series I was way more interested in Pam. By the end, Angela was a far funnier and more interesting character.
I thought the writers completely screwed Jim/Pam up, especially in comparison to Tim/Dawn from the British version. From making Roy into an insensitive oaf just to make Jim look better, to them fully going with Jim/Pam together so early in the series, I just hated it. I liked these characters in season 1-3, by the end I didn’t even want to see them on the show .

No
They aren’t very liked by this board. Especially after season 5

Kind of a no-win situation. A case of the writers giving the audience exactly what it wanted but at the same time removing the primary conflict from the show—and so early into its run. I’m grateful they didn’t just toy with the audience like Cheers but also recognize how the narrative suffered as a result.

The reason I enjoy the original UK Office much more than the US version is because Gervais never gave in to the "Ross and Rachel-ness" of his show. Jim and Pam are just another version of that, and Jen a Fisher is very meek and unlikable.

Pams downfall starts when the made her a salesmen. She was terrible from then on.
And in the last couple seasons them as a couple got straight up uncomfortable.

No I agree completely. Just kinda lost interest in the show after they got together and Michael started becoming more and more bombastic with his humor.

I always liked them. I never found them to be boring. Maybe in the later seasons, but the whole show falls off once Michael leaves.

It was Gervais’ advice to make the show about Jim and Pam as the heart of the show.

I liked them better as a “will-they-or-won’t-they” duo.

It's funny if you just go back on Youtube and watch a collection of Jim's pranks on Dwight, he comes across as even more the villain of the show and a total douche.
Rewatching the show, Jim and Pam just get worse and worse and nothing they do is funny, just smug and self-centered.

I hated them together, and it made the show worse when they kept having to one up themselves with the "cuteness" shite

The scene When Dwight punks her arse by having erin pretend she won an art contest is one of tGoat office moments for me.

Most shows with the will they won’t they fall off when they do

Pam was the worst. After she went to the retreat, she just got too mouthy. Seems like she's like that in real life too.

Holly/Michael > Jim/Pam
Also, I am probably one of the only people that think Karen was the better partner for Jim.

This. I know way too many couples who think they are better than everyone else and PB&J definitely fits the bill.

Holly and Michael are extremely funny together

I feel like putting them together took away a lot of the comedic tension the show had. Similar to putting Niles and Daphne together on Frasier. Would have been better off for both shows if the couples were kept apart
