I am really not sure what would be best. He could come back and pitch short relief. Basically rehab at LSU or just take what he gets in draft and hope it works out. Coming back to LSU could get him more money in 2022. I do not know his situation.

Whatever is best for the kid is what I want. Not what's best for LSU in this situation.

Doubt he will be ready to throw next year after TJ surgery 6 weeks ago.

He’s out for 12+ months after TJ so I doubt he’d even play next year anyway

Which means he'll go pro and get some guaranteed money while recovering.

There is basically no chance he ever pitches for LSU again

Precisely. No sense in coming back. The young man should go ahead and get his career started

No chance. He needs to take the money and hopefully his career works out. He can be a hell of a relief pitcher some day. This guy had the potential to be a Kevin Copps type of pitcher with electric stuff out of the bullpen, but changing him to a starter ruined his stock - hopefully not his arm and career for good. Good luck to Jaden.

Round doesn’t matter, he’ll get picked early & overpaid for his slot

Kevin Kopps is 24 years old. He’s having a ton of success as a guy old enough to be in his 2nd stint in AAA pitching to a bunch of 18 and 19 year olds.

Is he draft eligible- been at LSU 3 years or 21 years of age?

Question regarding the business side of things and not just about Hill.

Say Hill or another kid doesn’t like his mlb deal, his draft position, etc. Is the school responsible for the kid’s medical bills and rehab.
Say Hill is picked by the Pirates in the fifth round. Say he says no thanks. Could he return to LSU for one reason, so that his medical bills get paid?

I wouldn’t if I were him. Arm issues and new coaching staff. Lots of reasons to part ways.

And against elite talent in the SEC. He's the best reliever at the college level. Jaden Hill had the arm to be as effective. Just to clarify, when I say he could've been a Kevin Copps type of pitcher, I'm talking about his numbers. Which are absolutely ridiculous. Not sure what you're getting at.

I think the school can be responsible, but isn't necessarily mandated to.

If he was drafted, he would have health insurance under the MLB organization that employs him (or the MLBPA) and would probably get better treatment and rehab that way.

Either way, I doubt Jaden Hill or his family would be paying any medical expenses.
