Best e-readers?

Is the correct answer a Kindle Paperwhite? Looking for something that will use the libraries overdrive system easily.

Paperwhite is what I use. Replaced a 10+ year old Kindle whose battery was failing. Works well with Libby or Overdrive through your Amazon account.

If you read several days a week then go for the Kindle Oasis as it's worth the upgrade.

How are these readers better than just using reader apps on your tablet?

Easier on the eyes, lightweight, battery last a few weeks or so.

I have a paperwhite too and it's great. I get most of my books free through NOLA public library using the Libby app. The Kindle Oasis is on sale for prime day and I'm wondering if I should upgrade from the paperwhite. The larger screensize would be nice.
Anyone upgraded to the Oasis that can weigh in?

I was looking at the Kindle deals as well.
Waterproof paperwhite without ads is what I was looking at. What is different about Oasis?

I just looked at it and from a quick comparison the Oasis is waterproof (good for beach/pool), slightly larger view screen, and it has an "auto adjusting warm light". The warm light in particular is a nice feature. I generally read for an hour or so after my wife goes to bed so I mostly use a Fire Tablet because it is lit versus my old paperwhite kindle. I would much prefer to read from a paperwhite kindle with soft light.

This ad supported shite is really annoying. Seems like a scheme where they just made the normal product at the same price include ads and it is just an excuse to jack the price up on the no-ad version.
Also, paperwhites seem to be waterproof now as well. I guess the warm lit and large size are the benefits

Was looking at the prime day deal debating oasis vs paper white

I'm looking at the Kindle Oasis 8gb (no ads) for about $200 - do I need more storage than that?

I got an Oasis after years with a paperwhite. Things I like:
>rotating screen
>buttons and screen touch for page turn
>auto brightness
>cheap $10 mag cover turns it on and off when you open or close
>1" bigger screen
Cons:
>battery life isn't as good as my old paperwhite, but it will fully charge in 30 min

8 is absolutely fine if all you're doing is text e-books. If you are going to load up with audiobooks and/or LOTS of graphic novels/comics, then consider bumping up the Ram.

No, I'll be doing e-books straight. I use my phone for audio.
Think I'm going to pull the trigger. Thanks

I mean, the ads are barely there on a Kindle. You only see a suggested authors book when you turn on the Kindle, nothing pops up while you are reading. It's simply a placeholder ad that is there from when you turn on the Kindle until you swipe to open it.
I honestly barely notice they are there on my Kindle.

Oh well this is my first one so I don't really know. Was thinking of other devices
