Currently the Texas baseball coach, has turned around the Texas program…I like him better than Bianco. Doubtful he’d leave but seems like he’d be a decent fit at LSU

Turned it around from Augie Garrido's team? C'mon. Better candidates for LSU.

There are a bunch of coaches I like better than Bianco....including anybody that is or has been on the radar so far.

Turned around Texas? He’s the one that oversaw the dip post Augie in the first place. He wasn’t even the first choice at Texas when he got hired! Not to mention Texas made a run at Casey with Pierce still at the helm. He was a mediocre coach at Tulane and is still a mediocre coach at Texas. He just has a big talent pool to pull from.

You clearly don't know the history of Texas baseball. Garrido's last two years were barely a winning season in '15 and losing season in '16.

Pierce came in and won 39 games in '17 and made the CWS in '18. They dipped to .500 in '19 but were 14-3 before Covid in '20 and this year a National Seed and hosting a Super Regional with a strong chance to get back to Omaha.

Not even close to being just mediocre. He's a legit big time coach and I expect he'll win a CWS title in the near future.

He wouldn't even be in my top 3 coaches in the state of Texas that I'd be interested in coaching at LSU

Agree with this take. He was not at all mediocre at Tulane. He absolutely had them on the rise and Tulane hasn’t recovered since he left. They’ve been in the tank with basically the same talent level. Not saying he’s my first choice but he is a very good coach.

Yea this is definitely not accurate.

Pierce would be a solid hire.

Pierce hasn't done anything earth shattering here. This is his first team that has shown more than pulse.

Texas wasn’t good at the end of Augie’s run. 55-59 his final 2 seasons

Do y'all just live under a rock and that's why you're completely ignorant about college baseball coaches.

From 2012 to 2016 David Pierce took EVERY Sam Houston State and Tulane team he coached to the NCAA tournament. Won 38+ games and was 1st in his conference 4/5 years.

I'm not saying he's the top candidate for LSU right not, but do not throw shade at David Pierce. In 10 years you might be wishing LSU had hired him.

I don’t think you’ve paid attention to Texas baseball at all. Augie’s last few years were pretty bad and Pierce didn’t inherit a stacked team. He had Tulane trending in the right direction, was with Wayne Graham at Rice and at one time thought to be his successor. He is a good coach. Not my first choice for LSU and I don’t even think he would leave Texas but to say he’s a bad coach is just not true.
