That's fine I guess. Do you know anybody that pronounces it that way? Of all the people I know around sLA/NOLA, I know none.

My grandma lived in New Orleans her whole life, until we moved her to Kenner. Super thick, old school New Orleans accent. She pronounced it more like Nuh-wawlins. But close enough. The N'Awlins thing was Frank Davis taking how locals pronounced it to the Nth degree.

I mean, it was just used as a caricature of the lazy yat accent. Why is this getting you so riled up?

And fwiw. There are some old school yats that still say shite like kitchen zink and motor earl that say some mixed version of n'awlins and na'arleans.

what’s there to debate? she walks on stage, says “I’m black”, walks off, and wins 70% of the vote

Anyone shocked at her behavior should be more aware of what they are voting for.

Of course this woman wants to divide and conquer. That's what Progressive pols do. Now she just has to keep destroying, which she is doing at a rapid pace.

WWL should put up a gofundme for donations to pay someone to hit her ugly dumbass in the face with a shovel.

This.
Coco is right that people don't pronounce it that way in regular talk, but Frank Davis coined the phrase as part of his schtick. Then out of towners decided that was the way locals pronounced it and now it is cringy when people say it or write it that way. Tucker shouldve just spelled it correctly(I know he is local).

SO kind of local in that a genuine local started it, but it got appropriated by transplant yankees, tourists, and Hollywood and turned into something fake.

Had anyone ever heard the term "Big Easy" before the movie came out? "Nola" is a little sketchy. Kind of transplanty, post Katrina but a lot of locals use it now too.

Maybe it’s just me being an outsider, but she seems to represent the picture New Orleans very well

Now, I see why that isn’t what people want, but the way the city is currently she seems to be pretty much a model representative

Is Slidell and Mandeville New Orleans as well?

Where do you tell people you're from when you're on vacation in Gulf Shores or Florida?
