She should have just pulled over. Interstate was dead and even with a reduced shoulder the cop would be behind her with lights on, drivers are supposed to move over. Cop doesn’t know her intent he just sees a speeding driver keep driving with flashers on.

It’s clear as day that she intended to get over. He wasn’t chasing her from the scene of a violent crime or knew she had a warrant. He had no reason to believe she was dangerous or poses a threat to anyone else by driving 60 with her flashers on.

Putting your turn signal on indicates you understand and are going to get over. 2 minutes later to do a pit maneuver is insane.

Literally insane.

Was she a threat driving at low speeds with her flashers on?

Does it matter?

Instead of the Hippocratic oath, "first, do no harm",
police take the hypocritic oath, "first, escalate the situation"

How's that leather taste? Or, do you prefer to lick the rubber?

The flashers show her intent. That is the whole damn point.

PITs are extremely dangerous. That was a terrible decision by the trooper. Nothing in this situation called for it.

People have been brainwashed so bad that they don’t fully comprehend how eroded our freedom has become. Cops don’t have a right to wreck into you bc you MIGHT have bad intentions. Again, this stems from the root of the problem that cops are trained to view every citizen they interact with as a threat.

First off, police departments across the country constantly instruct the public to find a safe place to pull over. Why? Because it protects the officers’ (and drivers’) lives. In fact, the number of officers killed when accidentally struck by vehicles during traffic stops is roughly equal to the number killed feloniously during traffic stops, according to the FBI UCR stats

Second, unless cops suddenly develop psychic powers, we need to stop with this “he didn’t know her intent” excuse. No cop ever truly knows someone’s intent. If that’s the bar, then almost any police actions are justifiable. The better question is this: did his actions increase or decrease public safety/risk? In this case, the PIT maneuver clearly puts everyone including the cop in a more dangerous situation.
