Stretching this to “mob rule” is well, a stretched opinion. Nothing close to a fact. A more reasonable interpretation, IMO only, is a larger group of people exercising their right to disrespect and protest a guy who was disrespecting and protesting. Don’t strip the rights of many over the rights of few.
Sorry, I was going off the article linked by OP, which has a headline of...
Angry mob chases would-be flag burner off LSU Campus
And states...
A mob of protesters chased a would-be flag burner off the Louisiana State University campus Wednesday, ending the display before it began.
For his own safety, horse-mounted officers escorted Haas out to a police car as the crowd followed, police say. He was not arrested.

There is no way the current LSU student body would standup like that.
On the contrary, I believe that today anyone trying that would be beaten to within an inch of their life. There are plenty of Trumpists attending LSU and their cult leader approves of such behavior.

Well, for me, kinda like the faux picture that CBS posted in the article, I prefer to form my own opinion based on facts, not liberal eye catching propaganda headlines and photos.

Booze, are you saying that the students shouting him down were legal, but the cops stopping him were not?

That guy was such a little bitch.

He had every right to protest and burn a flag.
But his reasoning for doing it was... Misguided.
The other guy STOLE the flag and burned it. Like a cowardly terroristic piece of shite.

If the police believed his safety to be at risk, it is safe to assume the crowd was acting in a threatening or menacing manner. Making threats of physical violence constitutes assault. Not saying this happened, but it is a perfectly logical explanation for why the police intervened.
With that many people, no telling what kind of verbal threats were lobbed out and heard by police. Easy to see some redneck in cowboy boots threatening to kick his arse if he set fire to the flag.

I’m saying at a public university there should be adequate security so that he’s not in physical danger as he does his silly little nonviolent protest.

Hell the administration would give him private security and be there in person to support it

I agree. Cops shoulda stood down, he wasn’t in danger. They over reacted.

I was there, and kind of embarrassed. All he was hurting was feelings.

Thanks for the vid.
Notice how much better the girls looked than today.
The people running him off were not a mass attack mob like you see today. Everyone was just walking along pushing him out.
Now you see “ protesters” attack in packs like wild dogs.

Puss out? The police made him leave. Dude stood in front of the crowd of people yelling at him and stood up for what he thought was right. It was the police who grabbed him and made him leave.
So the OT is celebrating the government infringing on free speech? How woke of them
