Taking a road trip with the wife and kids at the end of July, we're doing Schlitterbahn and Sea World and the caverns, anything else we need to see?

Hitting an Astro's game on the way home, we've looked at the Hampton Inn near the stadium, anywhere else a possibility?

Check out the light show projected on the church in Main Plaza

Old Tunnel State Park isn’t too far of a drive. During the summer you can watch the bats emerge from the tunnel. You need to make reservations for it.

Hilton Americas near the stadium is great and you can check in and walk to game. Very short, safe walk. Great hotel.

You are correct. It’s not in SA.

My kids always preferred floating the River even over Schlitterbahn. The lines used to be so long! Maybe it’s bigger now.

Either way, spending a few hours floating the Comal (because there’s a more steady water flow) is a true Hill Country experience that shouldn’t be missed.

It is, not that far though from SA. Worth the drive. It's an hr from downtown SA.

If no car, then this is out.

I disagree about it being worth the drive. I think it’s a great museum, but I would drive an hour each way with kids that will probably be grump about it. I’d go if I’m spending a day in Fredericksburg and hitting up the Museum in the morning followed by a winery or two. But not out of the way like that with kids.

If you go to Fredericksburg keep going 16 miles east to the LBJ Ranch and do the tour. Also, Luckenbach is only 10 miles
from Fredericksburg as well. Always has live music and cold beer. Check out the light fixture in the mens room. Spoiler alert, it is a truck!

We stayed at Drury Inn on the riverfront. Free breakfast every morning and free buffet style food every evening. Also two drinks per adult every evening. Also had an indoor and rooftop pool.
