I have never seen this before. Scary stuff.

Edit: video seems to be taken off Twitter. Not surprised honestly.

Not watching that video, but they suspended the game and rightfully so. Can't imagine playing immediately after seeing that. It was already in the eighth inning so it'll at least be easy to wrap up

Yikes. Seems like full masks for pitchers and hitters will be coming soon

Because this happens one time out of tens of thousands of pitches per year/multiple years?

I’ve seen knockouts in Boxing that are worse than that.

I'm not the biggest baseball viewer but I feel like I've seen some pitchers rocking a mask before. Probably a smart move even if it ain't fashionable.

I'm sure it's a statistical rarity but I've always been waiting for a line drive right back into a pitchers skull that does permanent damage or worse.

It seems funny when you think about it that batters wear helmets as a from of protection against being hit in the hey by a maximum of 100 or so. But pitchers wear no protection standing in front of regular exit velos of 100+.

And I get that pitchers aren't directly in the line of fire with every ball in play like batters are with every pitch but then again how often are batters hit in the head? Thats a rarity as well.

Isn’t something as small as this worth it if it saves just one life for the entire history of its use?

We’re talking about a baseball game here, can’t see why anyone would be so adamantly against a safety protocol that wouldn’t effect the game in any other way

I mean the argument against full helmets would be, what, “that’s not the way we’ve always done it”?

That’s never a good reason to do anything.

There was a bunch of arse hurt in the comments telling the guy to take down the video even though it was literally on a broadcast.
