I moved to Florida 17 years ago for grad school. I loved north Florida and wasn’t crazy about south Florida at first. I’ve acclimated over the last decade though.

It’s exponentially better than anywhere in Louisiana and I could never imagine moving back. You will be absolutely amazed at how competently things are run compared to Louisiana.

It will be hot here soon but it will be dry heat and still cool down to around 60 at night.
What I got tired of was the humidity + heat, heat index. Take a shower, go outside and start sweating, nothing to do with BMI. ATL was nice until most of the trees were cut and all the concrete and asphalt became a heat sink, it was still better than LA summer. I do miss being ~ 2 miles from the Braves stadium. Well, that and Buckhead during its heyday, there were a lot of LSU people around back then. I haven't seen a mosquito out here either.

Boulder has some oddballs like anywhere else, but at the end of the day you are surrounded by some amazing people and world class outdoor opportunities.

Our long time ATL neighbors moved to Lewisville, CO about 2 years ago, they really seem to like and close to Boulder. They are coming to check out the Fe in July. I like Boulder but price per sq foot for housing there is like NYC. We were very close to moving to CO Springs.

That's exactly where I would move to and had a friend that once lived there and had a chance to see how it was. Very nice place

it's outrageous. the 800 square feet i sold is potentially going to buy me a larger place in both Lander, WY and Chattanooga. i can literally afford two houses with a yard for the price of a condo with 400 dollars in monthly HOA fees

Haven’t read all the replies, but I’ve been traveling to the Tampa Area for the last few years for work and I love it. There’s some beautiful areas and seems like a great lifestyle down there. Would move in a heartbeat

"Thinking of moving out of Louisiana and to _________"

Unless the blank is literally war-torn parts of Mexico, Africa, or the Middle East, just pull the trigger.

Moved for work to SW FL in 2014, after living in LA since I was a toddler. I haven't looked back. I have only visited once, for a funeral. I cook all of the food I can't get, by eating out. It is paradise here, the beach is 10 minutes away. Does it lack history and have plenty of Yankees and Midwesterners, sure, but everything else is so nice. No rude checkout clerks, my drive to work is like driving through a resort, perfectly landscaped. It's eerily like Stepford here. I am south of Tampa, but enjoy that area, too.

Left NOLA behind in 1984. Lived in Bradenton, south of Tampa, for 13 years. Moved to Dallas/Ft. Worth suburb Mansfield in 2019 to be near our daughter and 2 grandkids. What is true of FL is true also of TX - light years more competent than anything LA has to offer. Govt., infrastructure, quality of life. Sad to say my home city and state has good food, but you reach a point in life when that just isn’t enough.

I think I can answer this. We left Louisiana because of a lot of things, including weather, but the weather was an afterthought.

It gets just as hot here in the Treasure Valley. The difference is it's only as hot for 60-90 or so days before it starts cooling off again. Turns out I don't mind heat. I mind heat from late March to early November.

Left Louisiana in 2011. I love it there but there is no way I could live my adult life there. I couldnt stomach sending my kids to school where I went etc etc. Nothing about Louisiana is improving and its sad because it has some awesome people. I grew up moving around a lot as my father is a retired O-6. Every single place was better than SWLA in pretty much every facet of life.

Food, well thats a different story entirely.

It's not too bad there but even now I'm starting to second guess. We want to sell and get another house but the market is about to pop and collapse so we may just hold out here a little longer. I'm thinking if we do sell and move this time it will be out of the state because even some areas in the Northshore are getting bad.

Which areas are you referring to? If you're talking Slidell, that doesn't count. Neither does Folsom. Honestly, Mandeville, Covington, Madisonville are the best places in the state to live in my opinion. I'm perfectly content here.

These are facts not opinion. The only people who don't seem to see this is anyone who only has an experience inside Louisiana. This is why I'm seriously thinking about moving because just about everywhere I've been seems to just be better. People in LA keep electing dumbasses for leaders that make everything worse. Nothing improves...it gets worse.

You're absolutely correct. I live near Madisonville but I'm worried with the population explosion happening here. You can see along 22 they're just building up everything that use to be more rural. A lot of this is people from the city moving in. I'm not upset where I live right now it's mostly quiet but I know several people who were in my position and now regret it based on how things have built up around here.

If you go further down 22 near Ponchatoula they use to have a really good HS now it's absolute shite. Not really Northshore I guess but it's an example where everything is changing fast around here. Not necessarily for the better.

I’ve been everywhere, Louisiana is my favorite place in the world.

Tampa is soulless and boring. Especially Clearwater area.
