Swim coach is out. Gone. It’s about Freaking time. Only one way from here for LSU Swimming (not Diving) and that is up.
I guess Les and Kathy’s pull at the Natanorium is finally leaving the building.

About time.
We need to bring in good coaches at the other athletic programs.

Just reviewed the SEC championships. Auburn won 15 straight from 1997 - 2012 and Florida has won the last 9 straight. Wondering who the Auburn coach was at that time and if they’re still there or available. Quite the run they had.
Update: David Marsh was the coach that got Auburn rolling but left in 2007 to do Olympic level coaching. His successor who left Texas for Auburn developed a brain tumor and an assistant took over after that. He resigned in 2018. Will be interesting to see if Woodward will spend on a new head coach for swimming.

I heard the coach at Rice in Houston might be a great fit.

I find it absurd they acted like Swimming was separate from Diving. The coaches were literal douches about it giving a perception they did not work well together.
It would be like Track separating from Field
The whole program needs to be contracted. Too expensive to properly build it up to LSU's standard of competitiveness

David Marsh. He founded and coaches a professional swim training group out in San Diego now working with the top swimmers in the US and other countries. LINK

We had a decent one prior to this last coach, but the athletes complained that he worked them too hard. He made them run/swim early in the morning if he caught them drinking or breaking curfew.

Will be more interesting to see if they will spend on a facility. The only thing I know about Swimming and Diving is that the Natatorium is one of the worst facilities in the country.

Woody is making moves and trying to put his stamp on the program. Does he know anything about swimming?
What happened to Geyer, was he just let go or did he leave for another school?

lol adam schmitt was horrendous.

He handled the sprint groups, which never do particularly grueling workouts. Adam's training regimen was the least grueling of any coach who has coached at LSU in the past decade.

every coaching staff does this.

I can only assume that you are referring to Ricky Meador. If so, I can personally acknowledge that this happened. I may have even deserved it more than once.

In looking at NCAA Championships over the last few years, Texas and Cal have dominated the men’s field. The Cal coach only coaches the men there, not sure about Texas. Wonder if they’ve got any great assistants who might be looking to make the jump to head coach.

Has LSU contacted Michael Phelps yet? He'd be a good fit!

Swim workouts are usually early in the morning anyway, and then a second one in the afternoon.
