They can't immediately do anything. The FBI doesn't have some undo tool/backups, all they can do is eventually track its origin. A few local police depts were hacked, the FBI told them to just pay for the time being.

The FBI is fully occupied using all the agency’s resources still trying to dig up dirt on OMB. They can’t be bothered with such piddling things as national security.
