I actually think wars played a part in this, during the 20th century, worldwide. We purposely killed 100 million, mainly men, during the 20th century.

Life may be too easy in many regards. Since natural selection rewards those who best navigate the current living conditions it will always work. The question should probably be does natural selection now actually reward people who best take advantage of this easy life?
